Digital Web Creative is a dynamic team of talented, digital designers, production artists, videographers, photographers and copywriters. We work closely with our editorial team members to make our websites, emails and digital assets come alive with the Pottery Barn Kids & Teen’s brand voice. We also collaborate closely with our cross-functional partners in eCom, Development, Brand Marketing and Merchandising to name a few! About the Role 

The Digital Creative Director will manage the digital design teams for Pottery Barn Kids and Teen. Reporting to the VP of Creative Services, the ideal candidate will possess the technical capabilities and savvy to support and influence the digital creative strategy. The Digital Creative Director will create and design a look and feel for our website, email and social that will inspire our customers and tell our compelling stories.

  • Using a deep understanding of digital design, manage the creative development of our websites to capture the emotion and quality of our brands.
  • Work with the VP of Creative Services and other design leaders to concept, design and create seasonal and brand campaigns. 
  • Design compelling and interactive digital assets across desktop, mobile, app and social channels.
  • Work with our team of designers to create and design engaging visual designs for our websites, emails and social to consistently communicate and embody the brand.
  • Oversee and develop the digital design managers to provide creative feedback to ensure projects are top quality and milestone deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with our production artists, copywriters, photo art directors and media creative producers to create inspiring and functional digital content. 
  • Collaborate with all functions in digital creative to achieve creative and business goals.
  • Partner with marketing to deliver compelling content to achieve creative and business goals.
  • Manage projects, timelines and logistics for both individual contributions and those of the digital creative team.
  • Serve as a leader and culture keeper within the Creative Services and eCommerce teams.
  • Stay current on new technologies and market developments and bring new knowledge to the team.
  • Manage and maintain department budget.

We’re excited about you because... 

  • 7+ years of experience designing, creating, and producing multimedia experiences for the web and mobile applications. 
  • 4+ years of leading a digital/web or design team
  • Minimum of 3 years of interactive design and usability experience. BA/BS in related field of study. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Deep understanding and experience with eCommerce, and designing for its corresponding success drivers (e.g. SEO, conversion rates, bounce rates, etc.) 
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of mobile platforms is preferred.
  • Extensive digital/eCommerce experience for retail. 
  • Should be able to show depth of experience in layout, typography, design, and flow.
  • Detail oriented with a proven track record for producing consistent, clean graphics and layouts for web and mobile applications.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and developing a widely used web service platform.
  • Excellent team player with an eagerness to do a bit of everything.
  • Exceptional communicator who leads and contributes to technical discussions, and can translate technical issues and considerations clearly.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of direct-to-consumer customer contact and eCommerce business processes.
  • Strong business and operational senses; able to balance and address conflicting needs and timelines of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Proven success leading and inspiring a team.

Technical Competencies required (technical Skills):

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of standard digital design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Fluent in image optimization techniques, web/mobile design fundamentals. Strong experience with usability.
  • Experience working with CSS, (X)HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, Flash, video production and editing in CMS based environments.
  • Experience in working with eCommerce platforms and tools (shopping carts, promotion engines, cross-sell, attribute-based navigation, homepage re-designs, etc).

The expected starting pay range for this position is $150,000-$175,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
