Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Neuroscience Strategy Implementation, is a member of the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area’s Portfolio Strategy and Integration (NPSI) Team within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. They are responsible for creating, championing and deploying strategic business processes and systems, in order to enhance organizational capabilities and enable effective portfolio strategy implementation. They have strong project management skills; are able to handle large-scale projects or processes; and are adept at conducting strategic planning and corporate initiatives. They leverage systems, tools and information to deliver portfolio reports, insights and scenarios; and use narrative presentation skills to help our team and leadership to promote and exemplify TA’s vision, mission, strategy and pipeline and drive employee engagement. The Associate Director reports to the Director, Neuroscience Strategy Implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Implementation. Lead, coordinate, support and maintain Neuroscience business processes that ensure efficient implementation of TA portfolio strategy, including but not limited to J&J IM and Neuroscience TA-led portfolio prioritization; lifecycle management opportunity assessments; and coordination and decision support activities for Neuroscience governance including NSRB.
  • Change Management. Work closely with NPSI team members to identify best practices and changing needs of the Neuroscience business, and develop, socialize and implement new and innovative processes, tools and analytics to drive effective portfolio problem solving and decision making, growth, and value creation. Manage multiple large-scale and/or complex projects or processes using strong project management and strategic planning skills.
  • Information Management. Act as owner and subject matter expert for J&J IM and Neuroscience TA automated and manual portfolio management systems and tools, working with vendors and enterprise stakeholders to maintain and develop them. Capture latest portfolio thinking across scientific focus areas (indications, modalities and targets) and business environments (TA, external environment, innovation and business development) to ensure up-to-date reporting and accurate automated data feeds for TA and our partners. Represent NS team in potential future cross-R&D portfolio data excellence and data connectivity discussions.
  • Portfolio Analytics. Produce new and insightful analyses, scenarios and informational products on our portfolio for Neuroscience senior leaders, DALTS, CDTs and functional partners, both periodically and on demand.
  • Strategic Messaging. Collaborate with NPSI, TA leadership and Communications team to lead the design and development of strategy and pipeline presentations, using verbal and visual narrative techniques for both general and high level audiences, that help our team and leadership to promote and exemplify TA’s vision, mission, strategy and pipeline and drive employee engagement, using both verbal and visual narrative design techniques. Includes drafting, facilitating, designing, and managing document versioning via collaborative tools.
  • Executive Reporting. Coordinate and ensure quality of periodic development portfolio executive reporting across all three DASs including GOC/EC and J&J IM SLT reports and Investor Relations, including Asset Development Plans, working with partners including CDTLs and Communication.
  • Empowered Delegate. As needed, act as a delegate for the Director, Neuroscience Strategy Implementation or the Vice President, Neuroscience Portfolio Strategy, at Neuroscience TA and J&J IM strategic governance/advisory meetings.
  • Effective Partner. Inform and influence stakeholders at all levels of the Neuroscience and J&J IM business to drive business impact, with a focus on relationship building, effective communication, resolving conflicts, and influencing within the teaming environment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in life sciences.
  • Post-graduate degree in a life sciences, scientific or business discipline preferred. Neuroscience expertise is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the global Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device/Diagnostics industry, or an institution that participates in pharmaceutical/Healthcare research is required. Knowledge and experience of one or more of drug development, drug discovery, finance, or regulatory affairs required.
  • Direct experience in Program Management, Scientific or Medical Communications, or Strategic Planning strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to use visual design skills to convey complex messages and strategic insights clearly and persuasively are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, consult, facilitate and communicate effectively in a global matrix environment, with the ability to build positive relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of hierarchy, regardless of authority.
  • Self motivated, with a high level of comfort with operating as an independent worker in an entrepreneurial environment. Big picture orientation with solid attention to detail. A results and performance driven demeanor with solid sense of accountability.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$137,000-$235,750
