ADS- Associate Senior Distributed Database Administrator

Role Summary

As a DBA your role will ensure architecture/design of new DB components, releases, DB refreshes, patching, backup & disaster recovery , production Support , month end processing / reporting , customer support, risk management, user & access management, reporting jobs, legal requests from archives, patching, backup & disaster recovery.

Essential Functions

  • Performing SQL server installations, patching/updates and failovers
  • Administer SSIS/SSRS/SSAS including installation, updating, and troubleshooting issues
  • DB Production Support duties responding to monitoring alerts & BAU ticket handling within given SLAs and deadlines
  • Manage, maintain, and deploy all production changes/deployments proactively and as per best practice to avoid future production issues.
  • Rerunning failed Informatica ETL jobs
  • Focus on providing technical expertise in day-to-day work for outstanding customer experience
  • Focus on improving performance & optimization of Database environments via query optimization, job fine tuning, etc
  • Closely work with application teams to ensure permissions are up to date and match between environments when changes such as software releases, etc
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL scripts is essential.

Skills/technical knowledge

  • 3-4+ years of strong DBA experience
  • Strong working knowledge on SQL Server 2016-2022, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
  • SQL DB installation, patching & troubleshooting, and various production support tasks such as query related issues (deadlocks, locking, blocking, etc) and management and monitoring SQL Agent Jobs
  • Query optimization / performance tuning - execution plans & Index maintenance
  • DB maintenance activities like indexing, DB security,Backup and Restore etc.
  • Clustering (Availability Groups, Windows Failover Clustering)
  • Knowledge of DR plans-Log shipping,Mirroring,Replication,Clustering and Always-ON
  • Has used Version controlling using GIT, VSTS & Teamforge etc
  • Experience in cloud platform – Preferably GCP
  • Strong analytical and planning skills with an ability to manage competing demand
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; should be able to collaborate across business teams (stakeholders) and other technology groups as needed.
  • Experience in NO-SQL databases & exposure to Payments industry is a plus
  • Willing to support when needed, login when requested

Desired Skills

  • Advanced scripting skills in Python
  • Good knowledge on Data Warehouse & its concepts, preferably Informatica
  • Experience in Google cloud platform - GCP Pub/Sub, Datastore, BigQuery, AppEngine, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Memory Store, Redis etc
  • A good understanding of the payment domain
  • Understanding of non-functional testing like performance and load testing.
  • Expertise in UNIX Shell scripting
  • Basics in AI/ML.

Minimum Qualification

Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience.

Software Engineering, Information Systems or other Technical degree; additional experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
