Position Summary:

The CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Coordinator is responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating all aspects of CAD design and drafting for construction or engineering projects. The CAD Coordinator ensures that all design files are accurate, up-to-date, and meet project requirements. The role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of design plans, standards, and specifications.

CAD File Management and Organization:

  • Oversee the creation, organization, and maintenance of CAD files, ensuring they are properly stored and easily accessible.
  • Implement and enforce file naming conventions, layer standards, and other project-specific CAD protocols.
  • Maintain and update project CAD libraries, templates, and standards.

Design Support and Drafting:

  • Support the design team by producing detailed CAD drawings, schematics, and blueprints based on project specifications.
  • Revise and update existing CAD drawings as necessary to reflect changes or updates in the project.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to company and industry standards, codes, and specifications.

Quality Control and Accuracy:

  • Perform quality checks on CAD drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Review drawings for any design discrepancies and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve any issues before finalizing.

Collaboration with Project Teams:

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to review design concepts and integrate feedback into CAD drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of design presentations and submittals.
  • Ensure timely communication of updates, modifications, and issues with all project stakeholders.

CAD Software and Technology Management:

  • Stay current with advancements in CAD software and tools, ensuring the team is utilizing the most efficient and up-to-date technologies.
  • Provide technical support for CAD-related software, troubleshooting issues, and training team members as necessary.
  • Manage software licensing and updates for CAD programs used within the company.

Standards Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Develop and implement CAD standards and procedures to maintain consistency across all design projects.
  • Ensure all designs meet legal and regulatory requirements, as well as any client-specific standards.
  • Assist in the creation and revision of CAD-related documentation, including guidelines and best practices for the team.

Coordination and Document Control:

  • Coordinate the distribution of CAD drawings and documents to various stakeholders (clients, contractors, subcontractors, etc.).
  • Track revisions and ensure proper version control for all CAD files.
  • Manage and track project deadlines and ensure CAD deliverables are met on time.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in CAD drafting and coordination (3+ years), with a strong portfolio of work.
  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar) and other design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of design standards, construction codes, and drafting conventions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with project teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max).
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.
  • Experience in design coordination and project management.
  • Familiarity with project management and document control software.

Working Conditions:

  • The role typically involves working in an office environment with occasional site visits.
  • Full-time position with standard working hours, although flexibility may be required depending on project deadlines.
  • Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet project timelines.
