Purpose of Position:
Under minimal direction, the HR Specialist is responsible for managing basic employee relations issues, HR reporting and data analytics, HR administrative tasks, overall onboarding processes and overall HR Project management within the CSS HR Organization.

Major Responsibilities: 
Employee Relations and General Administrative:

  • Maintain employee and contingent workforce information utilizing PeopleSoft and Smartsheet including: temporary employee requests, new hires, performance ratings, pay increase change requests, supervisor changes, etc.
  • Request employee sign on payments, WIN awards, etc in accordance with Payroll and ADP procedures and respond to general inquiries on pay related matters from employees
  • Maintain Employee Files and I9s; ensure Compliance with all laws and SBD policies and Upload all files to DataBank.
  • Extract data from PeopleSoft, OPR 2.0 System (Oracle) BrassRing and Towers Watson utilizing basic report writing.
  • Create, Develop and Input Data into multiple templates and dashboards for the HR team and business to utilize and execute. 
  • Manage the HR Team Mailbox, email traffic dispersal, basic employee issue resolution
  • Manage PO process for HR Team invoices
  • Provide direction and answer inquiries pertaining to benefit programs, human resources processes, unemployment inquiries and requests.
  • Respond to general inquiries on HR policies and procedures of employees and escalate to management as needed
  • Maintain and update Employee Handbook as policies change and on an annual basis
  • Manage termination process including exit interview analysis and equipment collection

Recruiting and Onboarding:

  • Manage and provide process improvements to Onboarding experience for new hires including updating and improving Workplace communications, new hire kit process, conducting new hire orientations, automation of new hire checklists, email check-ins, electronic I9 Manager follow-up
  • Track and manage specialized Background Check Processes for customer requirements (Background Check 21, DISA, etc)
  • On a limited basis administer the job requisition, internal and external job posting process for temporary conversions and one off recruiting projects. This will also include scheduling interviews for internal and some external candidates and full background check process inclusive of ordering laptops on an as needed basis.

Training and Professional Development:

  • Manage and provide support on overall Training initiatives including setting up, maintaining Workplace CSS Training calendar, ordering training materials for programs nationwide and more
  • Provide administrative support for 360 Program and other developmental programs

Project Management:

  • Provide HR Project Management support in various capacities including identifying process improvement projects, supporting, facilitating and leading projects as identified by incumbent or team members.
  • Provide administrative support as required to support various HR Programs & Processes.

Branding/Social Media

  • Knowledge of online marketing and social media platforms and a good understanding of social media marketing
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) on internal social media platform that builds meaningful connections and encourages employees to act 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or other related discipline.
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Minimum 2 years of Administrative skills preferably in HR
  • Proficient with MS Excel, VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables etc.

Preferred Skills

  • Social media experience and knowledge of social analytics tools
  • Some knowledge of local and federal employment laws is required
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong PowerPoint skillset or ability to utilize
  • Knowledge of employment law; especially recruitment and wage and hour laws.
