The Finance Change Team provides expertise, management, and coordination of the Finance portfolio of change, developing internal proposals into light business cases as well as supporting strategic projects and programmes, in line with best practice guiding principles. Members of the Finance Change Team partner with multiple stakeholders to provide support, guidance, and delivery, managing impacts, risks and issues and readiness activities to ensure change is smoothly implemented, and that the lasting benefits achieved and measured, contributing to the overall success of the business. 

Job Purpose: 

We are seeking an experienced Finance Project Manager to join the Finance Change Team and manage some specific initiatives within the Finance Change portfolio. 

This role is to work collaboratively and support the Finance Reporting teams with their change portfolio, to ensure change is delivered smoothly and safely with minimal impact to the team. 

The successful candidate will be results driven and able to balance the urgency of rapidly improving the finance function capabilities ensuring the final solution will endure for the long term. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Elicit and articulate problem statements and requirements, ensuring differing needs are understood and any conflicting requirements are addressed at design stage. 
  • Capture Stakeholder maps and establish engagement models. 
  • Design and implement governance and engagement cadence. 
  • Work with architects (data and solutions) and SMEs to design appropriate, lasting solutions. 
  • Define outcomes, impacts, test scenarios, test plans, readiness activities for people, data and technology. 
  • Ensure Data Governance and Audit perspectives are covered. 
  • Define and take ownership of the delivery plan and proactively manage the interdependencies and any key risks and issues that may arise. 
  • Provide end-to-end project management to plan, manage, and deliver all aspects of the project (including vendor management). 
  • Establish effective communication and collaboration across all areas and stakeholders impacted. 
  • Provide delivery expertise and challenge, seeking support, to unblock issues that may arise. 
  • Maintain the project plan and budget. 
  • Report project status, actively managing the RAID log and monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating, or supporting corrective action where necessary. 

Performance Objectives: 

  • Deliver the project management capabilities (including management of plans, budgets, risks and issues, escalations) 
  • Construct and maintain project delivery plans for specific projects, including stakeholder maps, engagement models, governance, PMO reporting. 
  • Effective workload management of the resources allocated to the project, including part time SME time. 
  • Deliver outcomes as defined for projects in scope. 

Skills and Experience Specification: 

Essential: 

  • Able to elicit and articulate requirements from a range of stakeholders and work with architects and SMEs to design appropriate lasting solutions. 
  • Robust knowledge of software delivery life cycle and vendor liaison. 
  • Must have the credibility to provide respectful challenge, quality assurance and support to SMEs and sponsors. 
  • Expert at building relationships with multiple stakeholders within the organisation. 
  • Strong advocate of collaborative working. 
  • Highly proficient in using MS Project to construct delivery and dependency tracking plans 
  • Highly proficient in written and visual communication targeted to different audiences. 
  • Excellent communicator at all levels with strong stakeholder engagement and a proven ability to influence. 
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience of managing end-to-end implementations facing into the Finance function. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the insurance market and core business capabilities required. 
  • Proven track record of leading delivery as part of a matrix organisation that includes internal and third-party resources. 
  • Strong understanding of the full SDLC under different methodologies. 
  • End-to-end delivery experience within general insurance. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience delivering transformation/calculation engine tools used by Actuarial and Finance teams. 
  • Qualified accountant
