The Role:

The Sec & Derivatives Manager is an intermediate management level position responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of employees who process orders and transactions originating from trading desks. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of securities and derivatives transactions, while also playing an integral role in thought-leadership and implementing innovative process improvements.

Responsibilities:

Manage a team of inviduals who execute securities transaction processing related to Securities Clearance Settlement and Derivative Operations, while also supporting some of these functions and approvals

Contribute to the development of new processes/workflows that increase team productivity, ensuring entire team meets or exceeds performance goals

Serve as an analytical and procedural expert, and as first point of escalation for staff members, management and internal/external clients

Identify and escalate control deficiencies and issues to senior management as needed, playing an integral in risk mitigation and procedural documentation/review

Build relationships and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and cross-functional teams to improve processes and workflows

Lead team through the development and adoption of OpSo applications – playing an integral role in the requirements, design, and product delivery

Define performance expectations and communicate to ensure success in the achievement of business goals and overall performance improvement

Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive, timely feedback and coaching

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

5-8 years of relevant experience

Experience in a securities transactions processing role

In-depth knowledge of settlement cycle concepts and procedures to resolve settlement issues

Previous people management experience

Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

Track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making

Demonstrated ability for critical thinking, driving change, and delivering results

Confidence to ask intelligence questions and scrutinize assumptions, at times in the presence of senior leadership

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
