Sr. Associate, R&D Procurement

The person in this position will support the R&D Procurement Team, and will be responsible for the following R&D Procurement processes for the categories of Ocular Health, Pharma and External Ocular Devices (but not limited):

Continuous search of robust suppliers worldwide to contribute to meeting the R&D categories/projects requirements in an efficient fashion (speed, accuracy, competitive pricing, high technical and quality capabilities) contributing with savings and de-risk of projects to optimize R&D budget, enhance efficiency, effectiveness and level of service. Leading a successful construction of a strong legal framework (CDA, MSA, Supply Agreements, etc.). in ICERTIS platform by coordinating the related areas (Legal, Taxes, Quality, R&D, etc.). Use of data analytic tools (BI, AI, SAP, Ariba, etc.) and other Alcon tools/systems to leverage strategic information to understand the R&D needs and risks from a procurement perspective to propose sourcing alternatives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible of the ICERTIS System (Creation, Development and Execution) for: CDA, MSA/MEMA/ SOW, Lump Sum Construction Contract, etc.
• Responsible of participating actively in the ICERTIS trainings.
• Constant search/identification of new suppliers worldwide considering critical needs, strategic approach, high technical capabilities, certifications, regulatory and quality compliance, robustness, competitive price, geographic advantages, efficient development times, etc.
• Build, maintenance and efficient use of the Pool of Suppliers List.
• Leverage the Spend Analytics tool to gain a deep understand of the category suppliers to contribute with the sourcing R&D projects.
• Efficient use of the SAP/Ariba system for the R&D Procurement related activities.
• Leading Cost Savings Projects.
• SAP (New Supplier creation/onboarding, risk assessment, part numbers)
• Tracking and Recording of Suppliers Performance for R&D phase.
• Create a supplier’s profile for the bid events.
• Be aware of the Supplier Watch List to take the necessary actions to de-risk projects/sourcing
• Other as assigned by R&D Procurement Manager

Skills For Success

Key Requirements/Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a strong focus on capital equipment.
• Proven experience in negotiating complex contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, global environment.
• Proficiency in relevant procurement software and tools.
• Experience in the healthcare or medical device industry is a plus.
• Strong Fluency in English (certification ideally)
