Job Description

The Implementation Design Program Manager is a senior technical position responsible for supporting multiple complex projects and new business pursuits concurrently. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in complex supply chain solutions and technology employed by the DHLSC business unit and proficient in the technology related to design, implementation, integration, and performance.

The IDPrgM serves as a subject matter expert and provides overall technical oversight for standards and systems implementation, working closely with internal and external cross-functional teams. This includes conducting system assessments, defining requirements, leading design, configuration, development activities, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and providing guidance on system enhancements and optimizations.

In addition to implementation activities, the IDPrgM actively participates in defining and providing training and knowledge sharing, ensuring that the broader IT team and operational staff are well-versed in the functionality and capabilities of the implemented systems. The IDPrgM also collaborates with executive leadership teams to plan and execute strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiencies, optimizing processes, and enhancing the overall performance of the company’s operations.

The IDPrgM is responsible for providing leadership and strategic technical guidance on the use of existing technology as well as the assessment and adoption of innovation and new technology that drives business unit growth.

The IDPrgM is also responsible for the development of technical skills within and across the BU IT providing inclusive technical training programs, team technical development roadmaps to ensure the IDL career paths and technical resource skills capabilities needed to support the expected Operational Performance and Customer Satisfaction related to effective technology utilization.

This role places a strong emphasis on fostering technical skill development among a diverse team.x

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Directly Supervise a team comprised of Implementation Analysts and/or Design Leads, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise support in their project and Business Unit work assignments
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting knowledge sharing, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Assign project technical responsibilities, monitor team performance, and provide regular feedback and coaching to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with HR to support talent acquisition, training, and development initiatives to build a skilled and motivated implementation design team.
  • Develops and leads the execution of a strategic training plan focused on the development of technical skills among IT and operations team members
  • Actively contribute to project planning and labor forecasting

Pursuits:

  • Assesses customer requirements and recommends configuration strategies for complex IT solution(s) that meet or exceed the expectations of customers and business partners.
  • Participates in development of concept of systems documentation, software demonstration preparation and execution, and goodness of fit/solution design review for complex business opportunities.
  • Participates in technical assessments of third-party technical solutions
  • Participates on new technology solutions review and design
  • Define a release strategy, from early prototypes, through minimum viable product (MVP), to the first and subsequent releases. This is subject to frequent change as with any agile delivery process.
  • Define the product roadmap based on business outcomes. Define which business capabilities the product should have, and what business outcomes those capabilities should achieve.
  • Understand inter-dependencies between products
  • Develop customer demo materials

Stakeholder Engagement and Management:

  • Engage with business stakeholders, including senior leaders, to understand their strategic objectives and align WMS implementations accordingly.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing expert guidance on WMS solutions, industry trends, and emerging technologies.

Implementation Design and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and supply chain, to define WMS implementation strategies and align them with business objectives.
  • Drive the development of comprehensive implementation design plans, including system configurations, workflows, and integration requirements.
  • Ensure WMS designs meet business requirements, industry best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Provide technical expertise in reviewing, troubleshooting, configuring, and developing necessary solutions to meet project requirements.

Project Delivery:

  • Coordinate with other stakeholders such as business, data and IT architects to align product and platform architectures and capabilities according to agreed goals for non-functional requirements. Ensure that technical debt receives sufficient priority relative to functional requirements, in order to ensure success for the product throughout its entire life cycle, instead of just maximizing the functionality of the first release
  • Provides leadership over the overall design of new project implementations
  • Applies expert level technical knowledge to deliver complex integrated solutions
  • Leads others through system setup, configuration, testing, training, trouble-shooting and go-live support
  • Leads technical design for the integration of third-party innovative technologies with internal systems
  • Key participant in the design and implementation of cross-sector strategic projects
  • Leads sector-specific technical standardization and digitalization strategy
  • Direct efforts to develop proposals, progress reports, BCAs, and other documents and presentations relevant for the product
  • Oversee and coordinate complex changes, modifications and development for projects

Documentation

  • Develop, train and maintain technical documentation in support of specified applications to ensure the delivery of standardized solution.
  • Collaborates across all Business Units to ensure a consistent delivery standard and develop of new standards
  • Maintain and improve standard documentation

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with other business units to standardize processes, best practices and developments
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance implementation processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and optimization to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality of WMS implementations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and WMS software updates to incorporate them into implementation strategies and designs.
  • Contribute and coordinate the development and enhancement of implementation methodologies, best practices, and standardized documentation.
  • Project Planning & Administration:
  • Contributes to the development of project plan by supporting the overall project work plan, specifically in estimating of implementation tasks (e.g., system set-up, user testing, training).
  • Experienced in the use of DHL Supply Chain Project administration processes, including tracking labor against the project plan.
  • Facilitates and supports business acceptance testing process with customers, analysts and project leaders for custom and package application projects.
  • Applies advanced level industry specific knowledge to deliver solutions.Provides specialty technical knowledge of one or more in-house or third-party applications.
  • Performs system setup, configuration, testing, training, trouble-shooting and go-live support.
  • Facilitates training for all levels of associates, customers, and/or business partners.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in IT similar flied or 7-9 years’ experience in an IT environment, required
  • Master’s degree in a relevant business or technical field, preferred
  • Experience in the implementation and support of business systems, required
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% nationally to collaborate with broader team, required
