EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:
Mandatory – Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on application. New employees may be required to take and pass a mechanical aptitude test.
Preferred – Prior weaver experience. Warp Changer and Beamer Operator experience also acceptable. Prior work experience demonstrates good mechanical aptitude.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work assigned schedule. Must be self-motivated. Must have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and computerized equipment. Ability to legibly fill out forms/check sheets. Ability to perform logical and mathematical calculations. Knowledge of loom mechanics, weaving procedures, quality assurance standards and product specifications. Ability to learn job specific computer skills. All Loom Fixer trainees are required to pass weekly mechanical and written evaluations to evaluate skills retention and application. Employees not able to demonstrate the ability to retain and apply skills learned during training may be reassigned to another available position, if one exists.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to Shift Supervisor or Weaving Department Manager and works with minimum amount of supervision.
DIRECTION EXERCISED:
Independently determines job priorities. Limited to personal activities required to perform job duties.
Competencies: Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency – Amount – Description)
STANDING / WALKING:
Ability to stand and walk continuously for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.
SITTING:
N/A
MOVING SELF:
Ability to move throughout weaving department continuously during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.
CLIMBING:
Ability to step on/off catwalk, as needed, during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.
MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting – carrying – pushing – pulling)
HEARING / SPEAKING:
Must be able to communicate with co-workers and management as needed to perform job.
REACHING:
Vertical – Ability to reach up to full arm extension while performing job duties.
Horizontal – Ability to reach up to full arm extension while performing job duties.
VISUAL ACUITY:
Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties. Ability to see small openings and parts in looms when disassembling and reassembling loom parts. Must have the ability to repair yarn breaks, thread yarn through small openings, repair ends out and recognize quality defects. Ability to utilize both near and far vision while performing job duties.
BENDING / STOOPING:
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, squat and assume awkward positions while performing job duties.
MENTAL ABILITIES:
Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to interpret style change sheets, quality assurance alerts and job requests.
OTHER:
Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensation.
Medium motor manipulation – N/A
Fine motor coordination – Ability to manipulate small tools, tie small knots, manipulate buttons and knobs to start and stop looms.
Grip – Ability to utilize both a one handed and two-handed grip.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Must wear hearing protection, safety glasses with permanent side shields and safety shoes always when in the warehouse and on production floor. Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy. Wear personal protective equipment as required by task at hand. Use lockout/tagout where required.
MACHINE, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
Loom, powered industrial equipment, metric tool set, miscellaneous large and small hand tools, gauges/precision measuring instruments, grinders, drills, pry bar, oil can, tool box, scissors, reed hook, paint brush, utility knife, buffer, lockout lock, lockout tag, shuttle pusher and pen/pencil.
Hand tools are provided are provided to new Loom Fixers and the employee is responsible for maintaining their tools. Loom Fixer are responsible for replacing any lost tools.
MATERIALS USED:
Machine parts, manuals, yarn, lubricants and cleaning fluids.
