Job Title: Systems/Hardware Engineering Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Systems/Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic engineering team supporting customer projects in satellite communications, specifically within GEO satellite systems. This role requires a strong emphasis on project management, cross-functional coordination, and technical expertise in systems and hardware integration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of seven engineers across systems, electrical, and hardware disciplines.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of multiple concurrent customer projects, ensuring accountability for schedules, costs, and deliverables.
- Act as the primary engineering interface with cross-functional departments including program management, operations, quality, and procurement.
- Ensure system integration across hardware, software, and firmware components, meeting unique customer configurations and technical requirements.
- Drive technical execution and communication across engineering and program teams to meet customer deliverables.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities such as training, performance development, and resource allocation.
- Contribute to the expansion of product portfolio and engineering involvement across new orbital architectures and R&D efforts.
- Collaborate closely with Satcom-focused engineering efforts, focusing on the design and integration of satellite terminals.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 10 to 15+ years of engineering experience, ideally in systems, hardware, or electrical disciplines.
- Strong experience in project management, including responsibility for project delivery, timelines, and cost control.
- Deep understanding of Satcom systems, product lifecycles, and integration practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead through influence.
- Excellent communication skills, with a team-oriented and proactive mindset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the defense industry, particularly with DoD projects and culture, is strongly preferred but not required.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance; existing clearance is a plus.
- Minimal travel required (less than 10 percent).
Work Environment
The work environment is collaborative, requiring interaction with program management, operations, and quality departments, as well as procurement. This position emphasizes project management over direct people management, focusing on technical leadership and career development for engineers. Communication and people skills are vital, as is a proactive and team-oriented approach.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
