Reporting into the Director of Legal and Ethics, Risk & Compliance (ERC), we are looking for a qualified lawyer experienced in commercial contracting to provide high-quality legal support to the Sandoz team as well as ERC-related tasks. Based out of our Sydney head office, as Legal Counsel, you will support the ANZ business units and functions on contracts and other legal matters, thereby ensuring the business is optimally positioned to improve access to Sandoz medicines.

Your responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a business partner in all activities relating to the contractual negotiations by substantiating recommendations and providing legal advice and assistance.
  • Drafting and reviewing a wide variety of commercial contracts.
  • Advising on and assisting management decision-making regarding contracts, risks and opportunities relating to business activities and provide potential solutions.
  • Interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders within the business and collaborating with global legal colleagues, external counsel and legal experts.
  • Participating in the development, recommendation and implementation of legal policies, procedures and guidelines.

Position Title

Legal Counsel and ERC associate - 10 Months Fixed-term Opportunity

Role Requirements

What you will bring:

  • 4-6 years of PQE with in-house experience, ideally gained within a healthcare / pharmaceutical environment, or alternatively, with a top-tier law firm representing healthcare clients
  • Documented success in drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial contracts
  • Ability to analyse complex legal issues, and translate them to non-lawyers
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop a relationship of trust with business clients and to manage stakeholders independently

We expect that you are willing to learn and develop your skills within varied aspects of contracting and that you are open to taking on responsibility. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment where drafting and reviewing simple as well as complex contracts with our stakeholders will be among your main tasks. You possess a strong judgement and business understanding, you show initiative and can work independently in an organised and structured way.
