Support the development of public policy priorities that align to SoFi’s strategic priorities, supported by Return on Investment (ROI) analysis. Primary early focus will be on digital assets and student lending.
  • Legislative Engagement & Advocacy: Advance SoFi’s policy objectives via direct engagement with government officials and staff.
  • Policy Advisory & Education: Provide strategic advice and education to internal teams on emerging policy and legislative developments affecting SoFi. This role is central to building our public policy operations as well as advocating for our objectives across digital assets, student lending, and other policy areas.
  • Public Policy Monitoring: Continuously monitor ongoing public policy matters that could impact efforts across the financial technology sector to ensure SoFi remains ahead of market developments.
  • Compliance Collaboration: Work closely with legal, regulatory affairs, and compliance teams on the effective implementation of policy compliance requirements across SoFi.
  • Coalition Building: Represent SoFi in relevant policy and business coalitions to amplify advocacy efforts, ensuring representation across relevant industry groups.
  • Thought Leadership: Promote SoFi’s thought leadership through various industry and government forums. Secure speaking roles at high-profile policy focused conferences and events.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, or government affairs. Ideally, this includes time at a government, congressional office, or regulatory agency and within a fintech, payments, or financial services company's government affairs or public policy team.
  • Deep working knowledge of fintech and/or financial services, especially in rapidly scaling environments.
  • Strong grasp of financial services policy, including digital assets, student lending, and home mortgages, coupled with proven expertise in political and government affairs tactics and strategies.
  • Adept at identifying complex policy issues and translating them into actionable advice within a clear, analytical framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and advise senior management.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and foster strong relationships as a natural connector.
