The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software quality assurance, particularly in embedded systems and firmware for LiDAR or similar technologies. This role involves working closely with our firmware developers, systems engineers, and product managers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable firmware that meets our rigorous standards.

What You Will Do

• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and test cases for LiDAR firmware to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Perform manual and automated testing of firmware, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing.
• Collaborate with the firmware development team to identify, document, and track defects and issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
• Monitor and analyze test results, providing detailed reports on the quality and performance of the firmware. Document all success and failures and provide prompt feedback to firmware development team.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and establish quality metrics and benchmarks.
• Participate as a member of the agile development team, stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in testing methodologies, tools, and technologies relevant to LiDAR and embedded systems.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a clear sense of distinguishing quality (good vs. bad) and providing justifications.
• Proven capability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills.
• Strong self-initiative and drive to achieve goals and complete tasks without requiring constant supervision.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in software quality assurance
• Experience using a test automation framework or test automation tool
• Experience in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar.

Location:

• Cepton Headquarters – San Jose, CA.
• Some local on-site visits to key customers.
• Travel to regional customer sites and support trade shows and conferences if needed.

Other Information:

• $40/hour
• This position will report directly to our Firmware Manager.
• Temporary contract position
• Possibility of full-time employment after the initial trial period
