COO of Information Security is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing organizational and financial aspects for the Information Security organization. The candidate must be both an expert in financial management, versatile and technical with the ability to adapt to the rapid pace of financial services development and delivery. Candidate needs to be an excellent team player with good overall communication skills and above all be self-motivated and drive the overall progress of the security program at Jefferies.

Key Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the finance department, overlook the finances of Global IT Information Security including creating budget requests/plans with senior management, managing the budgets and tracking spending, analyzing the IT spend and reconcile any significant increases or decreases in spending – this includes strategic creation and management of discreet project codes to capture spend for CapEx, OpEx, Recurring Software/License/Maintenance
  • Responsible for managing approvals of Purchase Requisitions and invoices on behalf of Security
  • As COO, this position is from time to time called upon to manage large strategic projects (i.e. Vendor Outsourcing, Nearshoring, Cost Savings Program, Regulatory Programs, etc...)
  • Manage the VP Data Analyst who creates dashboards for various aspects of the Jefferies Security organization
  • Manage the consultant Chief of Staff to the CISO who is responsible for all Information Security related Communications, Events, Design, IT Website, Customer Facing signage, etc… as well as assisting with the DevOps program including related training and awareness
  • Management of Strategic Portfolio of Information Security Projects with a team of 8 business analysts and program manager’s
  • Oversight of the Information Security portfolio of projects including monitoring project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Work with Key Strategic Vendor executive leadership to maintain and grow relationships while teaming with our Purchasing leadership to ensure consistent strategic messaging
  • Team with Finance, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Legal, IT Management on managing the ongoing expense base, asset register, project codes, allocations and all contracts associated
  • Manage regular cadence with HR and Recruitment for new resource needs, recruitment, role changes, etc..
  • Managing ongoing cost allocation process for all Information Security services
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards that track various aspects of the Jefferies IT environment. For example, dashboards have been created to display statistics and information related to project status, inventory counts, incident tickets, HR data, etc.
  • Oversight and Development of key Information Security Metrics and KPIs including measuring the effectiveness of security controls, incident response, and risk management as well as regularly reporting on KPIs to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Incident Response and Threat Detection via working closely with incident response teams to improve mean time to detect (MTTD) security incidents.
  • Stakeholder Communication to CIO, Business COOs through communicating cybersecurity initiatives, progress, and challenges while translating technical metrics into business-relevant insights

Required Background

The following skills and experience are required for this role:

  • 5-10 years of managing large scale technology departments including organizational resource oversight as well as managing the finances of the associated group
  • 3 -5 years of experience with managing strategic technology projects especially from a cost perspective
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a financial services firm
  • Excellent Leadership and Communications skills while knowing how to navigate the landscape of a Financials Services organization including any political awareness necessary
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Ability to explain technical risks in a business context
  • Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of IT staff located in multiple sites, including proven effectiveness working with global teams
  • Highly self-motivated and capable to work under pressure
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
  • Possesses a customer-oriented mindset

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range of $200,000 - $275,000.

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and qualifications.
