Job Description Summary:

The Principal Software Architect will provide technical leadership in the architecture, design, and implementation. You are an Agile problem solver and has an appetite for building and delivering innovative software solutions, that delivers excellent business value to our customers. The role requires deep technology expertise, advanced analysis skills, a proven ability to work collaboratively with product and business development teams on product and solutions technical strategy in a communications setting.

As a Principal Software Architect, will be responsible for driving innovation, technology and solutions that support our product strategy, and architecture across a technically diverse application portfolio. You’ll be empowered and encouraged to bring forth new ideas that further empower the product and the team while showcasing your passion for emerging technologies and best practices.

We are looking for an experienced individual with broad software engineering experiences, a deep understanding of complex high-performance systems, and a desire to work in an innovative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define application architecture for new and innovative software solutions in a lean agile environment. Create high level design documents, technical descriptions and architectural diagrams.
  • Elicit requirements, incorporate input from a variety of stakeholders and build consensus around a design concept.
  • Lead software architecture and design activities.
  • Architect, design and develop secure, scalable, low latency, high throughput solutions with an agile team.
  • Help customer facing teams identify, pursue and close strategic business development opportunities, drive add-on business within existing projects/products, and envision technical strategy for products in portfolio.
  • Help define and refine existing corporate architectural standards and guidelines. Participate in architecture group meetings and activities.
  • Help identify and execute improvements and simplification opportunities with business systems.
  • Present to audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain effective relationships with product management and business development groups.
  • Lead code reviews, quality reviews for team with a continuous improvement outlook.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development and at least 5 year as an architect.
  • Experienced in leading consensus on complex proposals within engineering groups, as well as with other teams and outside partners.
  • The ability to work with senior product management on strategic initiatives that have architectural aspects.
  • Expert in Db2 for zOS with DBA experience
  • Elicit requirements, incorporate input from a variety of stakeholders and build consensus around a design concept.
  • Lead software architecture and design activities.
  • Capability and comfort in presenting to executive-level staff.
  • Deep knowledge of Java, JSON, RESTful Web APIs, JavaScript, Webservices, and Linux environment.
  • Excellent understanding of architecture and design patterns, coding principles and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Java open source frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate).
  • Experience with relational databases, data storage and principles.
  • Experience building software that is robust, resilient and capable of providing high performance under heavy load.
  • Good experience on unit testing and other methods to ensure high quality code releases.
  • Must have exceptional analytical skills and strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
