Job Summary
The Senior Counsel position will be located in Columbus, Ohio, and will provide legal support, advice, and counsel to AEP’s procurement and supply chain professionals and AEP businesses. The position is essential to AEP’s ability to successfully execute its enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain strategy.
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for managing the review and negotiation of multiple procurement-related agreements, projects, and transactional matters, and identifying legal and business risks and corresponding solutions.
Applicants must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, a good working knowledge of procurement contracting, and sound legal judgment, as well as a proven ability for initiative, creativity, and working independently of direct supervision, while being aligned with the goals of the AEP legal department.
The Senior Counsel position reports to the Associate General Counsel, Transactions, and works closely with the Assistant General Counsel responsible for legal support of AEP’s procurement organization.

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
