Job Description:
We are looking to recruit an Avionics Designated Airworthiness Engineer, in Getafe , to join the Airbus Defence and Space Technical Certification team. This team provides certification expertise across all Airbus Defence and Space aircraft programmes and represents Airbus DS in rulemaking & international industrial standardization working groups.
Mission:
The main mission of the Avionics Designated Airworthiness Engineer is to manage the technical certification activities for Avionics disciplines (Communication, Navigation, surveillance, Auto-pilot, displays and alerting systems, Safety, Hardware, Software, Environmental Qualification, etc…) with Aviation Authorities' specialists/ experts for (Supplemental) Type Certification, Changes to (S)TC, and rulemaking & standardisation tasks.
Functions and Tasks:
- Lead the certification and qualification activities related to Avionics systems for Air Power programmes;
- Provide airworthiness approvals and exercise DOA/MDOA privileges for the scope of assigned responsibility as delegated by the Chief of the Office of Airworthiness;
- Support the timely achievement of certification & qualification milestones through identification of Major program technical issues and associated risk management plan, identification of regulation and interpretation issues and identification of Safety and Certification Compliance Issues;
- Support the necessary activities for the investigation of incidents and accidents for those aspects regarding technical certification knowledge;
- Provide expertise in Avionics certification to the design organization, or special projects;
- Contribute to the definition of certification policies for the technical discipline under his/her scope, and promote their consistent application across programmes, including the participation in the development of new and foreseen technical certification strategies or policies, in particular for novel or unusual design features or for compliance demonstration method improvement;
- Represent Airbus DS in rulemaking and international industrial standardization working groups for technical certification; coordinate with Airbus Commercial and Airbus Helicopter Airworthiness Technical Organisations;
- Contribute to technical certification derisking in Airbus DS Research and Technology (R&T) / Research and Development (R&D) projects related to the Airworthiness Technical;
- Develop specialized training to the overall Design Organization on technical certification matters under scope;
- Gather and disseminate Technical Certification regulatory knowledge and expertise within Airbus DS, particularly for CVE/DAE community, to maintain state of art;
- Contribute to the Technical certification digital transformation and the implementation of new ways of working (including DDMS).
Others:
- Be part of the trans-functional and trans-national projects and teams;
- Proven experience in Avionics System Design and Airworthiness functions (experience interfacing with the Aviation Authorities, will be a plus for the position);
- Negotiation skills, good communication skills, integrity, conflict management
- Fluent English. French, Spanish or German are a plus.
