MSIM Fixed Income is a global fixed income effort with $185 Billion in AUM and 225 spanning global fixed income markets. MSIM Broad Markets Fixed Income team (BMFI) manages $100 Billion in AUM across sovereign, short maturity, investment grade, aggregate and opportunistic fixed income strategies. BMFI is a 60-member team that are primarily based in Boston, New York, and London.

BMFI is looking to add a junior trader to its Macro trading desk in New York. The position will become a member of the global broad markets trading team and will be based in New York. The position will primarily focus on Global developed markets rates (duration, curve, vol and linkers) and foreign exchange both in cash and derivative space.

Primary role responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Assist in trade execution in the DM Interest Rate, FX and Derivatives markets.
  • Monitor daily liquidity positions and relay to portfolio managers/traders. Execute necessary trades to address liquidity needs.
  • Become proficient with the various product work flows (DVP, listed and OTC derivatives and foreign exchange)
  • Liaise with middle office, and the different back office teams to maintain timely and efficient trade cycle work flows
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, with broader Fixed Income team colleagues and dealer relationships.
  • Liaise with operations and other fixed income business colleagues to maintain and enhance workflow efficiency, monitor risk and improve communication.
  • Pursue Market Structure development efforts that benefit our trading implementation.
  • Improve workflow efficiency through use of technology and systems.

Expected skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or other quantitative major
  • Minimum of 1- 2 years’ experience
  • Strong interest in financial markets and fixed income
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skill
  • CFA designation preferred or working towards
  • Demonstrable High technological competence
  • Attention to detail, high ethical standards, strong work ethic and adherence to firm’s policies
  • Ability to handle pressure, work at a high level and multi-task
  • Be proactive by identifying issues and devising solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and develop working relationships internally and externally
  • Experience with the Aladdin OMS preferred
  • Manifested interest in technology and innovation

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $85,000 and $110,000 per hour the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
