Why this role is important to us

Global Billing Operations (“GBO”) is responsible for all of State Street’s client billing processes across the globe. The remit spans across Asset Servicing, Alpha, Global Markets, Global Advisors, and the Digital division, covering over 50+ billing processes and 40+ legacy platforms. GBO is undergoing a multi-year transformation spanning people and operating model, processes and controls, data automation and technology.

State Street has established a Global Billing Function under Global Delivery under Controllership, which is responsible for Billing Transformation, Client billing set up and invoicing across all business lines and geographies globally at State Street. Organizationally, it combines all groups performing these activities and includes centers residing in State Street Shared Service locations in India, Poland, and China.

Job Purpose

State Street has committed to significantly automating and streamlining the technology and data associated to its varied billing processes. As part of this commitment, there is a dedicated Billing Transformation organization responsible for developing and implementing the appropriate strategy to migrate from legacy, manual processes to a highly automated environment with more robust controls. A significant component of the Transformation team is in the Global Delivery and responsible for several key areas of implementing the transformation efforts.

Client / Data Publishing – Global Delivery (“GD”) will be supporting Billing Transformation Data Lead, as the team implements billing transformation strategy across data publishing, will be partnering with teams to monitor, track, report progress, targets and outcome linked to target state operating.

This role will be responsible for ensuring “accurate” data published within agreed SLA for timely client billing, automation, user acceptance testing (UAT), system build out validation and conversion to provide insights, status, opportunities and ensuring that various components of underlying processes are running as expected –in line with the strategy and prioritization defined by the Head of Billing Transformation to achieve the goals of migration to the single, Oracle based platform (ORMB).

The Data Operations team is seeking a highly committed, technically sound, and organized individual that is detail oriented, to support the monthly data management activities and data publishing processes, and ability to manage ad hoc requests/projects. In the Data Operations team we achieve this through effectively engaging with our leaders and colleagues to understand our broad strategy, analyzing data, and delivering insights to help drive current and future performance.

What you will be responsible for

  • The role will involve understanding both financial and operational aspects of the Data Operations business.
  • Partner with Data Sourcing, Ad hoc data team to ensure accurate Client data ( automated and manual) is published within agreed SLA, for timely client billing.
  • Support, partner with invoicing teams ( across regions) to help identify opportunities for reduction of unbilled and conversion of clients from Legacy system to ORMB.
  • Partner with Fee Schedule Governance, Data Governance –data sourcing for new services to clients, partner on billing methodology, data, SLA, data source provider agreement. as we drive onboarding new clients.
  • Support broader teams- across Data Ops, GBIC, Product Enhancement in setting up required reporting and progress metrics, setting up cadence to report our progress, issues, and remediation
  • Partnering and providing status and leadership updates to GBO Leads, Cross functional stakeholders.
  • Promote risk excellence culture and looking at opportunities for continuous improvement.

Expectations:

Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, or a related field and with 5-10 years’ experience ideally covering the following:

  • Experience in Data management and Billing Operations
  • Financial services setting

Skills required:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to provide clear and professional communications with internal and external individuals including senior management.

  • SQL knowledge preferred

  • Ability to influence across siloes and work with broader teams and a collaborative attitude

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in IT/Finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or equivalent industry recognized qualification
  • Must have a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in Financial/Global Services Organization /Investment banking or related IT Industry
  • Knowledge of SQL would be an added advantage

Additional requirements

  • Understanding of State Street – functional structure- and experience in GD, Operations ( would be an added advantage)
