Project Director

Job Summary:

The Project Director for Infrastructure with a focus on site supervision is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of road and bridge construction sites. This role ensures that construction activities are executed according to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines, while coordinating closely with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocations and procurement strategies.
  • Coordinate and oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications.
  • Evaluate and select contractors and subcontractors based on qualifications, experience and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on project status to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, prioritising a safe working environment for all involved.
  • Manage construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings and change orders.
  • Conduct regular meetings to facilitate communication, address challenges and to meet project objectives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on project status, including milestones, budget updates, and any significant developments or risks.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Carry out thorough project evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Safety & Quality Control:

  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on-site.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure quality workmanship.
  • Implement traffic control and public safety measures during construction.
  • Coordination & Communication:
  • Liaise with design teams, contractors, and government authorities.
  • Conduct site meetings and provide updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the delivery and use of materials, equipment, and labor.

Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.

Here's what you'll need

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in Infrastructure construction projects, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with heavy civil construction practices and site logistics.
  • PMP, OSHA, or Work Zone Safety certifications are advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in site management software and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
