Department Information

The Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies communications team manages all strategic marketing and communications to support the Office of the Dean, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, and all School units in promoting events, programming, and branding.

Job Summary

  • Writes 500-800 word news and features stories for the school.
  • Researches and fact checks information, including ensuring accuracy of quotes used in articles.
  • Complies with IU editorial guidelines and meets marketing and communications deadlines.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.

Preferred

  • Graduate students and undergraduates with junior or senior status.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Experience with news reporting, blogging, or other public-facing writing.

SKILLS

Required

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Organized, with the ability to plan effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for higher education and research.

Working Conditions / Demands

Students work independently, with editorial input from communications staff. Regular check-ins with supervisor(s) are required.

Students must have the ability to work through 2025-26 academic year.
