Delta Air Lines requires an IT Program Manager in the SAP ERP domain to work in a high paced, dynamic environment. This person will play an important role in defining the changing SAP environment at Delta Air Lines, managing and leading program teams through SAP design, development, testing, and deployment of finance and logistics solutions, with immediate emphasis on the implementation of SAP Transportation Management for Delta’s Technical Operations business unit.
Your Responsibilities in this role:
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SAP Transportation Management System (TMS) IT project team
- Implements forward thinking initiatives in support of annual divisional and organizational goals
- Responsible for maintaining project status reporting across scope, schedule and budget, using various software tools, e.g., digital.ai Agility, PPM, Microsoft Office products
- Lead project team members in solution design and development, providing guidance and mentoring to team, evaluating, and directing enhancements, resolution of complex issues and applying best practices to SAP solution and service delivery
- Responsible for partnering with business, cross functional, integration teams and IT stakeholders to lead technical delivery aspects of the project life cycle - scoping, budgeting, resource estimating and assignment, requirements gathering, design, development, testing and deployment
- Provide program leadership and direction for selecting solutions (buy vs build) across a wide range of centralized and distributed environments across the Delta technical landscape
- Work with IT Stakeholders to gather requirements and conduct proof of concept exercises for emerging technologies and solutions and application to Delta business case scenarios
- Work with Business partners for gathering requirements, developing sound, well-architected solutions and articulate their benefits
- Provide hands on program/project management assistance as required
- Collaborate with many teams including networking, database, storage/backup, development, and operations to efficiently and effectively deliver operational excellence
- Strong experience managing project portfolios and providing strategic direction
- Provide accurate estimates, and persistently stretch the capability of the team to meet challenging internal targets
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of applications, data and infrastructure architecture expertise and systems design
- Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, quality, and budget
- Provide clear status of tasks and activities to all relevant people on the project
- Help identify improvements to process, particularly to enhance visibility, insight and agility
- Achieve IT compliance on process disciplines (project reporting, timesheets, change management)
- Advises on methodologies to lead and plan project best practices
- Provides practices and procedures to lead technologies based on standard methodology standards
- Adheres to the methodology standards, naming conventions, and policies as outlined by the company

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- 10+ years of industry and/or consulting experience, minimum 5 years of proven experience in SAP solution implementations
- Proven experience in navigating complex organizations, creative problem solving, and rational experimentation
- Experience with SAP Transportation Management is required
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into easy-to-understand concepts
- Experience with relevant Agile tools like digital.ai Agility, or similar, for managing work
- Ability to thoughtfully manage escalations and communications during critical incidents
- Solid analytical skills, experience solving practical issues and engaging cross functional teams of multiple process partners to gain consensus
- Strong leadership and management skills that align with Delta’s culture; specific skills include facilitating change, driving operational excellence, and striving for continuous improvement
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment, being respectful, approachable and team-oriented, building strong working relationships and furthering Delta’s Great Place to Work culture
- Experience in working with senior leadership team to develop overall solution strategy
- Proven ability to manage projects on-time, on-quality, and on-budget
- Excellent client service, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills (written and verbal), strong numbers acumen, including analytical and quantitative abilities
- Experience managing capital and operating budget targets
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
