Job Description

  • This position is for Lee Kong Chian School of Business / International Trade Institute @ SMU (LKCSB/ITI@SMU).
  • Student Management
    • Compile, update, and maintain student records for the Maritime & Business Operations (MBOT) and International Trading Track (ITT).
    • Conduct and manage outreach to prospective students to generate interest in the MBOT & ITT.
    • Manage the Maritime Merchants Society (MMS) student club.
    • Manage all MBOT & ITT activities, including guest seminars, site visits, and networking events.
    • Manage the overseas exchange programme, scholarships, awards, and bursaries.
  • Industry Partners Management (external stakeholders)
    • Support collaboration with government agencies.
    • Support engagement with industry partners and donors.
    • Assist with the organisation of industry meetings and activities.
    • Update of Industry contacts and records.
    • Maintain the industry database.
  • Support the institute's digital/social/marketing communications
    • Update and maintain the website.
    • Create marketing and communication materials for programmes.
    • Engage students on social media platforms, i.e., Linkedln, Instagram, and Telegram.
  • Provide operational support for events and seminars
    • Prepare event and seminar collaterals, such as flyers, registration forms, etc.
    • Maintain communications and updates with students and/or speakers.
    • Support operations of events, seminars, and programmes.
  • Support the operations of the office
    • Respond to enquiries from external and internal parties.
    • Support finance payments and updating of finance records.
    • Support companies' requests for interns or graduate employments.
  • Work across SMU offices on operational and administrative matters (such as, coordinate study trips, track progress of students' internship, facilitate the work-study electives, administer scholarships, awards, and bursaries).
  • Assist in any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A polytechnic diploma or university degree with more than three years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Able to travel for work.
  • Able to work after hours occasionally.
  • A strong command of spoken and written English and Mandarin is required, as the candidate is expected to engage with Chinese industry partners, both in Singapore and China.
  • Experience in creating and managing online content and social media.
  • Experience in creating and designing marketing and communication collaterals.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, meticulous, and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-starter, mature and able to work independently, at the same time, an effective team-player.
  • Prior experience with the tertiary education landscape would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience in programme management, particularly in undergraduate programmes, will be an advantage.
