The Director, Salesforce Platform leads a team of Salesforce Administrators and external development partners to design, develop, test, document, and deploy business solutions on the Salesforce platform. This role manages the implementation of improvements and new functionality by collaborating with teams across AARP Foundation to define the future-state strategy and advance the Salesforce roadmap to achieve defined outcomes. The Director also collaborates with cross-functional teams on status updates, technical issues, and creative solutions, and serves as the senior Salesforce authority within AARP Foundation while maintaining strong connections to AARP enterprise partners in the Salesforce ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Sets the strategy, product planning, and leadership throughout the product lifecycle, including setting the product vision, gathering and prioritizing product requirements, and collaborating with ITS, business groups, and end users to develop new features and product improvements.
  • Develops and communicates organizational objectives. Inspires and motivates team members to incorporate customer-first philosophy in all interactions.
  • Creates and evangelizes a product vision for operations, end users, and consumers and owns a multi-year product roadmap.
  • Works cross-functionally with stakeholders across business groups, operations, legal, records retention, and executive management to translate consumer needs into Salesforce capabilities.
  • Evangelizes security within Salesforce and acts as an advocate for member trust. Lead security compliance efforts. Engages with internal and external stakeholders and contact centers to identify information technology and security solutions required to meet organizational, regulatory, and strategic compliance requirements and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Salesforce roles, such as Salesforce Product Owner, Solution Architect, and/or Platform Director.
  • 8+ years of experience with Salesforce Service Cloud, including 3+ years with Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience managing direct reports is required.
  • Experience managing external delivery teams.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to present and defend a point of view to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically and gain support for long-term roadmaps.
  • Must have at least one of the following Salesforce certifications: Technical Architect, Integration Architect, Systems Architect, Data Architect, or Application Architect.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
