JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as the Operations Manager for the department of Bioengineering and off-campus locations. Manages staff and oversees daily operations for the assigned department. Supports strategic planning and initiatives for the department and associated centers. Provides strategic support to the Department Chair. Coordinates and performs administrative duties and facilitates office operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

30% - Essential - Department Operations: Provides strategic support to the Department Chair, including confidential, executive, administrative and academic support. Manages the daily operations of the department of Bioengineering. Makes recommendations to identify efficiencies in work processes and structure of the department. Assist the Department Chair in strategic hiring process and other department wide initiatives. Leads teams as required and see projects through to completion. Maintains working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates department events and classroom materials.

20% - Essential - Program Management: Implements development objectives. Ensures high level of customer service. Directs the business operations for the department in conjunction with the College units ensuring high-quality support for internal and external stakeholders. Initiates appropriate action to resolve issues. Coordinates onboarding for new departmental faculty and staff. Serve as a liaison and coordinate with off campus facilities and personnel in Charleston and Greenville.

20% - Essential - Strategic Initiatives and Planning: Recommends plans for implementing University policies and ensures compliance. Fosters collaborative relationships, and serves as principal liaison to the College and University central offices. Recommends revisions to existing initiatives and new programs to the Chair and faculty.

20% - Essential - Supervision: Provides direct supervision to staff, ensuring the effective implementation of development objectives and organizational goals. Monitors performance to help direct reports achieve objectives. Conducts the review process for each direct report, including evaluations and goal setting, in OnBase. Fosters a collaborative environment ensuring alignment with Department and College priorities.

10% - Essential - Assessment and Accreditation: Coordinates, compiles, and organizes activities and datasets associated with ABET and SACS for the department and associated programs. Compiles, manages and maintains accurate reports working with faculty assessment coordinators. Prepares and compiles faculty workload data and other reports as required by the Department Chair.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: 1st Associate's Degree

Work Experience: 1+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education: 1st Bachelor's Degree

Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hours: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Pay: $53,300.00 - $75,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
