Are you a passionate advocate for storytelling, particularly in the realm of webcomics and web novels? Do you envision expanding their cultural influence in the U.S. and beyond? Join us as a PR & Social Media Manager, where you’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of webcomics and webnovels. In this role, you’ll report dually to the Head of the Tapas Task Force and the Head of Global Communication, both located in Korea Headquarters.

Based in Los Angeles, this position adheres to our hybrid office work policy, requiring employees to be in the office three days a week for collaborative work and allowing flexibility for remote work on the remaining days.

Responsibilities:

  • Insight & Strategy: Utilize your deep understanding of webcomics and webnovels to identify trends and opportunities for TEI in the North American market.l
  • Media Relations: Manage U.S. and Canada media inquiries, craft compelling PR messaging, develop title publicity strategies, and support corporate branding efforts in partnership with the Korean HQ to elevate TEI’s brand presence. 
  • Community Management: Cultivate and engage with TEI communities across various social media platforms and online spaces (Instagram, LinkedIn, website, Discord, Reddit, etc.) to foster a sense of belonging and excitement.
  • Industry Outreach: Build and nurture relationships with global and U.S. comics, books, publications, and culture reporters to elevate TEI's profile and strengths.
  • Event Planning: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conceptualize, plan, and execute impactful initiatives and events across the U.S.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in PR, communications, or related fields, with a track record of success in building brand narratives.
  • Deep passion and knowledge of Korean webcomics, Korean culture, manga, and anime.
  • Experience developing engaging content for digital platforms, apps, or publishers, and successfully pitching stories to journalists. 
  • A data-driven approach to strategy development, with a focus on leveraging analytics to drive campaign success.
  • Bonus: Established relationships with relevant media outlets in the US comics, book, and publishing industries is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
  • Bonus: The candidate’s ability to understand/speak some Korean will be a definite plus, but not a prerequisite.
