Job Description
Requirement for a Field Service Engineer (FSE) providing on-site support to the USMC and US Army M777A2 Light Weight Mobile Howitzer locations world-wide. Candidate ideally shall be geographically located to the area of responsibility/assignment to maximize on-site support and minimize travel requirements.
Field Service Engineer (FSE’s) must be capable of providing the following services to all fielded M777A2 howitzers:
- The FSE will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on M777A2 system to include Weapon, Digital Fire Control Systems, and Intermediate Knowledge of Fire Missions/Fire Direction Center operations.
- Maintenance/Troubleshooting Assistance on the Weapon, its components and accessories for both Operator and Maintainer.
- Maximize the skill and capability of USMC and Army M777/A2 maintainers by providing hands-on training and mentoring of operators and maintainers.
- Conducting Failure Investigations. FSE will be required to obtain all details of failure, and proposed root cause.
- Facilitating/Implementing Software upgrades. On occasion the FSE may be required to assist Military and US Government personnel with M777A2 Software upgrades.
- Provide on-sight evaluation of critical system malfunctions/failures and assist the Military or US Government personnel to facilitate the evacuation of the weapons or parts of weapons that are beyond the capability of the maintainers or the FSE to repair (e.g. titanium welding).
- Facilitating/Implementing retrofits. Where required, the FSE will perform retrofits, train maintainer personnel to perform the retrofit, update the retrofit database.
- Providing customers with spare parts status reports on specific items not available through the existing supply system. The FSE will have access to the BAE Systems Life-Cycle Sustainment Part Requisition List. Where required he/she will be required to report updated information to specific customers relating to supply status.
- Able to effectively create and maintain technical reporting of weekly events, issues and findings using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Coordinate with Military and US Government personnel and provide feedback to BAE Systems’ representative on parts usage/failure, technical data issues, overall weapon performance/maintenance issues and parts required. Forward any usage data provided by the customer and assist, as necessary, in expediting the return shipment of critical parts or components.
- Answering technical inquiries through voice and written communications. Able to communicate effectively through voice and written communications to provide assistance where in-person travel is impractical.
- Expected travel is (+ -) 70%
- Able to travel to Domestic & International destinations.
- Travel as required/directed to specified locations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Military experience in USMC MOS 2131 Towed Artillery Systems Technician, USMC 0811 Cannon Crew member, or US Army MOS 13B (U6 Identifier) Cannon Crew Member, or 91F Small Arms Artillery Repairer - Grade E5 or above.
- Able to qualify for, and maintain, a US Government issued Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must possess or obtain a Valid US Passport
- Must possess a Valid US State driver’s license
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or other technical field, preferred
- Military experience in USMC MOS 2131 Towed Artillery Systems Technician, or US Army MOS 13B (U6 Identifier) Cannon Crew Member, or 91F Small Arms Artillery Repairer - Grade E6 or above.
- Able to obtain a US Government Security Clearance if required.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $77814 - $132283

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
