Infrastructure Systems Administrator - Server and Production Support

CTG is seeking to fill an Infrastructure Systems Administrator – Server and Production Support opening for our client in Manhattan, KS.

Location: Manhattan, KS

Duration: 12 months

Duties:

  • Physically access, inspect, and service server hardware and network equipment as needed
  • Administer and maintain Unix, Linux (RedHat/CentOS), Windows Server, and Sun/Solaris systems
  • Troubleshoot and perform hardware maintenance, especially on legacy Sun E250 systems
  • Manage application and database servers across on-premises and Azure environments
  • Perform server patching, OS updates, and remediate security vulnerabilities
  • Support application deployments and CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps and Development teams
  • Troubleshoot deployment issues and improve automation in deployment pipelines
  • Monitor system health and performance across infrastructure layers
  • Analyze logs (Linux, Windows Event Logs) for root cause diagnosis of production issues
  • Write and maintain scripts in Python and Shell (Bash/KSH) to automate tasks
  • Assist with provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring of Azure-based virtual infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Security, Development, and Operations teams
  • Maintain documentation on systems, procedures, and troubleshooting methods

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS, Solaris)
  • Experience with server hardware support and maintenance
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at both OS and application levels
  • Scripting experience in Python and Bash/KSH
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Willingness to provide on-call production support

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting server hardware and operating systems with limited guidance
  • Prior work with Sun E250 or similar legacy Sun/Solaris systems
  • Experience supporting production environments running business-critical applications
  • Experience monitoring, patching, and securing multi-platform server environments
  • Background in automating infrastructure tasks and supporting deployment workflows

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered
