Job Description

The Process Engineer – Extrusion EMC is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing extrusion products to meet customer expectations, industry standards, and organizational goals. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, throughout the product lifecycle—from initial concept to full-scale production. The engineer conducts feasibility studies, oversees prototype testing, and refines production processes to enhance product quality and efficiency. Additionally, the engineer ensures regulatory compliance and drives continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and performance enhancement that contributes to the organization's competitive success in the market.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process Design: Support in the creation and improvement of extrusion processes to maximize efficiency and product quality.
  • Process Control: Monitor and adjust process parameters to ensure extruded products meet required specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Support the identification and resolution of technical problems that may arise during production.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with other areas such as process, maintenance, quality and production to follow up on non-conforming extrusion products.
  • Innovation: Research and apply new technologies to improve existing extrusion processes.
  • Development: Suggest the selection of suitable materials and process parameters.
  • Process Monitoring: Support production in real time, ensuring that it remains within the established specifications.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Collaborate with tooling area to ensure components are kept in optimal condition.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to extrusion master validation plans for prototype, development or new product registration
  • Training: Support operational personnel in techniques, best practices and use of ancillary equipment.
  • Research and development: Participate in innovation projects for process improvements and parameter updates.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Process Control Track internal and external raw material testing and analyze process controls in case of failures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet internal specifications, procedures and standards.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with the engineering and materials team to integrate needs

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Plastics, Industrial, or a related field) with a focus on extrusion processes
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in process engineering, specifically in the extrusion industry or related manufacturing environment and plastic transformation processes
  • Strong understanding of extrusion processes, tooling design, and materials used in extrusion applications
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing tooling and equipment
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and experience in maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field, with a focus on advanced manufacturing or materials science
  • Experience with advanced extrusion techniques and technologies, including knowledge of co-extrusion and multi-layer applications
  • Familiarity with automation and control systems related to extrusion processes
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or Six Sigma methodologies
