The Ford Cost Estimating department is responsible for developing, analyzing, and utilizing cost estimates of automotive components to achieve efficient design and commercial outcomes for vehicle and unit programs. We are a global team with team members located in 8 countries.

In this position...

This role is directly responsible for overall cost estimating core operations, including:

  • Establishing and maintaining our cost estimating methodologies
  • Acquiring objective and reliable rate information within each region
  • Performing qualitative and quantitative analysis on aggregate estimate data including scale analysis
  • Coordinating internally costed teardown activities within the Cost Estimating department

This role is supported by a team of cost analysts primarily based in the US and Mexico.

What you'll do...

  • Manage our cost estimating process analysis (CEPA) team
  • Maintain our costing methods, policies, and guidelines
  • Procure or perform research regionally / globally of rates for raw materials, labor, machines, and utilities, etc., for use by our costing tool, FACTON
  • Coordinate costed teardown activities within CE, including shipping and receiving of parts across regions
  • Manage the OCE Annual Update Process including loading costed benchmarks (OCEs) to TVM-ER, working with Finance to conduct gap adjustments / overlays, performing standard gap analysis and publishing the Gap Kit templates
  • Updating the OCE green bar file used in the Ready Reckoner tool, which is used to perform fixed cost analysis due to volume fluctuations
  • Conduct ad hoc special studies as required
  • Manage all CE support activities to support CE1 program(s), including sourcing support as well as interactions / alignment with CE1 costing team
  • Develop and manage department budget requirements (cost data subscriptions, software subscriptions, etc) and lead yearly update of subscriptions (RFQs, PO Requisitions, etc)
  • Lead global department initiatives in benchmarking new technologies for use in CE operations.
  • Drive department efficiencies through new process development / new tool development or procurement

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in engineering or data analytics. or equivalent experience.
  • Non-technical bachelor’s degree with extensive cost estimating and cost analysis experience maybe considered, especially if holds MBA or other advanced degree
  • Minimum 5 years of cost estimating experience
  • Ability to construct and analyze manufacturing costs of components by reviewing drawings, engineering specifications, and functional requirements
  • Demonstrate an enterprise view of business concepts as well as quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise presentations, comfortably & confidently to senior leaders
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects running concurrently
  • Be an active participant in cross-functional Global Total Cost meetings
  • Articulate cost estimating point of view including ability to explain optimal cost estimates (OCEs), Should Costs, and activity-based costing (ABC) methodologies
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills
  • Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills
  • Ability to influence and upskill others
  • Result driven, Ford+ behavior, ownership attitude and quick turnaround of open issues and requests
  • High integrity to maintain costing principles and ability to explain to customers
  • Must have working knowledge of cost estimating tools and processes
  • Willingness to travel regionally, or internationally as needed
