Primary Function
The Technical Writer Lead under the WSMR TEAS contract is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end technical documentation process across multiple projects, ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of all written deliverables. This role provides leadership and quality assurance for the development of technical manuals, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, user guides, training materials, and other mission-critical documentation that support operations at White Sands Missile Range. The Technical Writer Lead assigns and tracks work to a team of Technical Writers, monitors workload distribution, and ensures adherence to contract requirements, industry standards, and Army formatting guidelines. Additionally, the Lead conducts editorial reviews, manages version control, and collaborates with engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers to capture complex technical data in a clear and user-friendly format. The Technical Writer Lead plays a vital role in supporting the range’s test and evaluation mission by producing accurate, timely, and compliant documentation that meets the evolving needs of both internal stakeholders and external customers.

Working Environment
This is an on-site, fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities. This position is normally 5 days a week M-F. However, weekends and after hour support may be required.
