Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Critical Design Review (CDR) Campaign Systems Engineering Manager 3 on the Sentinel Systems Engineering team located in Roy, UT, Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.

What you'll get to do:

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Critical Design Review (CDR) Campaign Lead on the Sentinel Systems Engineering team. CDR is a major program event (MPE) which establishes the Sentinel initial product baseline to proceed into fabrication, system integration, demonstration and test. The CDR Campaign Lead has leadership responsibility for the CDR MPE; they lead the development and integration activities for CDR to enable success at the culminating CDR event.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Event leader for the CDR Chair
  • Develops CDR campaign strategy and associated roadmaps

o Defining lower level / incremental build up activities, events, and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) to ensure a manageable risk posture for a successful CDR MPE

  • Briefing executive program and customer leadership
  • Publishes plans, procedures, checklists and metrics in support of the CDR MPE
  • Monitors and reports technical, cost, and schedule progress to program leadership, customers, and stakeholders
  • Develops and manages handling plans for risks and opportunities associated with CDR MPE
  • Ensures content is captured, presented, and delivered on time to support the campaign events
  • Responsible for compiling and delivering the CDR data package

o Includes understanding the technical products that are input to the data package

  • Provide down-and-in event support to other product segment teams across the program. This includes but is not limited to:

o Creating strong partnerships with other product segment MPE leadership teams

o Support data reviews

o Interpretation and implementation advisement for program plans, procedures, and checklists

o Participate in and provide lower level execution event surge support as needed

  • Establish and facilitate regular CDR review / working group sessions regarding readiness metrics related to technical maturity and schedule
  • Establish strong customer relationships and alignment regarding CDR
  • Provide leadership of event execution and closure of all action items

o Responsible for auditing the completion of all entry and exit criteria for CDR

  • Understand the scope and impacts of IMS givers and receivers that support successful CDR
  • Manage and reforecast the MPE schedule based on coordination with all impacted stakeholders
  • Lead CDR planning during detailed rolling wave planning activities

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field and at least 8 years of related experience
  • 3 years of experience in a formal lead/management position
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Experience in working with subcontractors and customers at all levels
  • Experience in program reporting
  • EVM experience on reporting and VARs with the ability to get certified
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • ICBM experience
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
  • Experience with technical reviews for large scale and complex system development
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods
  • Proven communication and leadership skills and experience leading small teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with stakeholders

Salary Range: $161,500.00 - $267,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
