Sr Cyber Security Engineer

PURPOSE

The DLP & Insider Response team at Bayer is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer specializing in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Forensics, and Insider Risk technologies to join our security team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our complex network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on cloud integration, security, and automation. You will have the opportunity to be part of a globally distributed hybrid team that thrives in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and to effectively mitigate risks associated with data loss and insider risks.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and manage our hybrid cloud and on-premises network infrastructure;
  • Grow our DLP & Forensic capabilities and onboard new technologies;
  • Lead the migration and integration of network services;
  • Implement and manage network security solutions, including firewalls and secure web gateways;
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues;
  • Proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities;
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure network connectivity and performance;
  • Create and maintain network and change documentation;
  • Stay current with the latest networking technologies, security threats, and industry trends;
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements;
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • The preferred location for this role is St. Louis, MO, however, residence-based candidates in the US will also be considered.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or relevant technical experience in lieu of a degree);
  • Significant and relevant experience in cybersecurity, with a specific focus on DLP (includes insider risk, hunting, and incident response);
  • Relevant experience working at the enterprise level in a large company;
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and compliance frameworks;
  • Proven experience with DLP technologies (e.g., Forcepoint, Netskope, Purview) and related tools;
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams;
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, including good judgment and strong integrity;
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a specific focus on DLP;
  • Experience as an Engineer in the cybersecurity field;
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, GCFA);
  • Familiarity with cloud security solutions and practices;
  • Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential topics;
  • Language experience in Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Mandarin.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $122,892 to $184,338. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
