Scope of Job
The School of Accountancy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally has the need to hire One-Year Lecturers to teach in the Bachelor of Accounting program (contingent upon enrollment and scheduling needs). Responsibilities include delivering quality and academically rigorous instruction in the program, mentoring students, and participating in service at the School, College, University and/or local community as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualifications to be considered for a lecturer/One Year Appointment include having a Master of Accountancy, Master of Taxation, or equivalent MBA with 18 graduate-level hours in accounting from an AACSB International institution. Two years of non-teaching experience in accounting.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Must be scholarly/instructional practitioners under AACSB guidelines; be an effective teacher with outstanding oral and written communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualification
Two years teaching experience at an AACSB International accredited university; ability to maintain collegial, collaborative relationships with students, student organizations, other faculty and administrators; willingness, ability, and availability to engage in quality teaching and service. A Texas certification in public accountancy is desirable (out of state licensees can apply for certification by reciprocity at TSBPA).
Salary One-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualifications in the discipline. Including Budgetary Approval.
