about the role

Main activities:

Provide third level support for any issues within the IP Backbone network.

Provide training to other support and operations teams.

Provide expert level support for complex customer issues.

Define rescue plans for complex customer issues and major network outages.

Responsible for providing technical input for postmortem analysis.

Provide dual validation for complex network changes.

Perform traffic tuning to alleviate congestion points.

Create troubleshooting guidelines.

Management of Network Optimization projects:

Review and validate N-plans

Review and validate configuration guidelines.

Plan and execute pilots to test new software or features.

Create, review MOP’s (Method of Procedures).

Perform risk analysis for network changes.

Automation development:

Collaborate with internal teams to develop automation tools to support the needs of the organization.

Perform validation testing of NSO packages developed by Engineering.

Develop automation scripts to simplify day to day activities.

People Management:

Does not have direct reports.

Can function as a team lead on specific projects to coordinate other resources.

Can function as a mentor and coach.

Financial:

Does not have individual budget.

Detailed knowledge of IP routing protocols BGP, ISIS, MPLS, Segment Routing.

Detailed knowledge of L2 and L3 VPN technologies.

Detailed knowledge of IPSEC.

Proficient in the creation of route policies.

A good understanding of network security.

Knowledge of virtual network functions (VNFs) (virtualized routers, firewall, IPSEC gateways)

Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Cisco: Expert

Routing MPLS (Including MPLS TE): Expert

Common Routing strategies and techniques (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP/HSRP/VRRP): Expert

Segment Routing (including SRTE): Expert

IPSEC: Expert

Cisco Network Service Orchestrator (NSO): Proficient

Ansible: Proficient

Python: Proficient

SDx (SDN, SDWAN): Useful

Security: Knowledgeable
