This position will support global sourcing for Starbucks retail store development initiatives, from furniture and fixtures to artwork and casework-the store doesn’t open without you! We are seeking an out-of-the box thinker who balances the Starbucks’ missions and values with the confidence and know-how to execute on complex global initiatives; someone who can demonstrate a history of success taking bold action; someone with a passion for innovation; a keen understanding of co-creating and building dynamic “End to End” Sourcing strategies and someone who wants to make a difference. Working alongside cross-functional teams including Design Concepts, Store Operations, Product, Quality Control, and Facilities, this partner will help drive the process to get the best solutions into our stores and deliver value.

In this position, you will contribute to Starbucks success by developing and leading global sourcing strategies, effectively managing suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the relative spend area. You will consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. You will collaborate effectively internally and with suppliers; develop effective multiyear negotiation strategies; and lead cross functional teams. Manages a global spend of $200 Million plus depending upon market complexity. May mentor other procurement professionals.

As a Sourcing Manager, you will…

  • Drive strategies to mitigate risk for Starbucks while also enabling the business to move at the speed of innovation
  • Manage a portfolio of projects ranging from new product development to contingency planning and a portfolio of suppliers ranging from furniture to countertops
  • Develop effective working relationships with cross functional teams to serve as a valued advisor in sourcing principles
  • Reduce supply chain risk by effectively managing supplier relationships while also being aware of the supplier landscape and alternatives
  • Drive value for Starbucks including reduced labor costs, reduced waste, and reduced carbon emissions
  • Be ready to think with an open mind and curiosity

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Education (minimum education level, degree or certification necessary): Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering or other related fields preferred.
  • Years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills (minimum needed to be qualified): 5+ years strategic sourcing experience required.

Skills (minimum skills required):

  • Sourcing Foundations: Expert knowledge of procurement processes such as category sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, risk management, and key legal terms. Expert knowledge of procurement processes such as RFXs, market analysis, ‘should-cost’ models, and standard legal protections (i.e. confidentiality agreements). Helps other sourcing partners succeed through knowledge sharing of key sourcing foundations.
  • Problem Solving & Business Acumen: Proactively identifies and addresses problems constructively and takes action to resolve.
  • Teamwork: Effectively influences across peer groups and senior management level on complex strategy and demonstrates leadership.
  • Project Management: Highly effective employment of project management tools and techniques. Ability to prioritize and redirect under pressure. Proactively mitigates situations before they become issues.
  • Emotional Intelligence & Influence: Ability to lead in an ambiguous environment and agile response to change. Demonstrate effective influencing skills via the ability to flex your style depending on strategy and stakeholder.
  • Communications: Ability to prepare clear and concise verbal, written, and visual presentations effectively utilizing storytelling techniques and ability to clearly communicate written and verbally to cross-functional stakeholders & senior management to align and implement strategy. Proactive communication to management.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: Proactively identifies and engages in opportunities to expand knowledge via external benchmarking, external resources, further education (i.e. certificates), learning more about the broader business, attending conferences, etc. Applying learnings and shares learnings broadly with peers.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identifying the right stakeholders, analyzing and anticipating their business needs and expectations, co-creating shared goals and continuously engaging and strengthening the relationships.
  • Other: Intermediate to Master in MS Office Suite, (including Excel pivot tables, managing complex formulas + data); also knowledgeable in BI Apps, Oracle ERS, SAP Ariba, Power BI, Tableau, or other like systems.

  • Problem Solving & Business Acumen: Strong acumen for coping with different business situations in a professional manner via obtaining essential information, focus on key objectives, recognize options available for solving problems, selecting the right approach to overcome obstacles, and set plans in motion to achieve execution.
  • Emotional Intelligence & Influence: Anticipate others' perspectives based on their role, level, and body language. Response to change is to consciously move through acceptance, adoption, and internalization. Ability to effectively use different types of influencing styles.
  • Communications: Skilled storyteller in answer-first style.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
