About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This role supports recruitment, retention, and scholarship initiatives for the Dedman College Scholars Program and all disciplines within Dedman College of Humanities & Sciences. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the position develops and implements strategies to engage high school students and educators through daily presentations, individual meetings, and travel to local and key markets. As a core member of the Dedman Scholars Program, responsibilities include application review, interview selection, event planning, and managing the program’s annual calendar. The role also leads prospective student communications across print, web, digital, and in-person channels; enhances alumni engagement through events and outreach; contributes to the Dedman College newsletter; and coordinates with the recruiting office on marketing materials and day-to-day recruitment activities.
Essential Functions:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience is required. Work experience in university admissions, recruiting and marketing is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external constituents. Must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing. Strong presentation skills with the ability to speak to large groups is essential. A strong customer service orientation and commitment to the cultivation of relationships with students, parents, teachers, counselors, faculty and staff are essential. Candidate must also demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Candidate must also possess strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Candidate must possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and interpret recruiting trends. Must also have understanding of CRM software as a customer relationship management tool. A strong working knowledge of Teams, MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), is essential for developing mail merge documents, reports, etc. Candidate must also demonstrate to have a strong working knowledge of social media programs as well as e-mail communication systems.
During specific times of the year, this position requires applicant to work weekends, early mornings and/or evenings for on and off campus events and travel. This position requires local, state and nationwide travel to high schools, conferences, college fairs and recruiting events.
