We have an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Affairs team where you will support the design and delivery of Ardonagh’s corporate communications strategy for colleagues, clients, the insurance industry and wider communities it engages with.

This is a remote, home-based position, however depending on your location there could be the opportunity to work from one of our UK-based offices on a hybrid basis. Travel will be required on an ad-hoc basis, primarily to our head offices in London.

Working closely with the Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs Director, you will be responsible for delivery of proactive communications and copywriting for The Ardonagh Group and its trading brands including press releases, website copy and articles, social media, internal news writing, video storyboarding, thought leadership/opinion columns and other associated external copy. This role involves owning relationships with trade press journalists and managing reactive press enquiries with the support of external PR agencies.

It's a hands-on busy role covering both external and internal channels which requires enthusiasm, the ability to multi-task, manage and drive your own workload to influence stakeholders and achieve challenging results.

As part of a small but mighty team, you will also contribute to the design and delivery of the Group’s editorial content planning strategy, own Ardonagh’s brand assets, own our internal senior leader channel, continuously build relationships with business stakeholders across our global group of companies and provide counsel on PR and reputation management to the Ardonagh executive team.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver communications strategies for M&A, financial results and other corporate announcements, coordinating with relevant parties in and outside the Group to ensure alignment.
  • Proactively manage Ardonagh’s strategic narrative and visual brand across all internal and external channels - advise internal stakeholders on best use and provide accurate, high quality information to be used for external purposes where necessary.
  • Owns and maintains suite of impactful brand collateral which effectively communicates the vision, structure and priorities of the Group to key audiences (employees, clients/business partners, investors).
  • Works with local communications, marketing and leadership teams proactively and reactively to ensure all business activities aligns to the broader Group communications and brand strategy, effectively managing press enquiries and business issues ensuring risks are managed and information is represented factually.
  • This role is the lead owner of Ardonagh’s corporate website and social media accounts and is responsible for proactive maintenance of these sites, addressing update requests from stakeholders and designing and implementing editorial and content strategies for these external channels.
  • Delivers communications strategy and assets for the Group’s Sustainability charter including annual sustainability report – working closely and advising stakeholders on ESG-related communications to ensure alignment at a business and segment level
  • Supports the successful delivery of Group employee and charity events through impactful copywriting, creative concept and communications campaigns

Key requirements for the Corporate Communications Manager:

  • Strong understanding of PR and corporate communications experience in a regulated industry – understand the financial reporting process and what drives performance, parameters of communicated for and within an FCA regulated company, parameters for communicating for and within a company with publicly traded bonds, M&A processes
  • High commercial awareness – maintain current knowledge and understanding of the UK business and political environment and any impact of events on Ardonagh and its customers, partners and employees
  • Crisis management – able to act, prioritise and advise calmly, quickly and clearly, and lead/work with others to respond effectively
  • Drive simplicity from complexity – ability to analyse and edit complex/technical content and briefs and translate into audience-appropriate language
  • Act as expert adviser - guide the business on potential impact of decisions/actions on external and internal stakeholders and help them manage it to achieve the best outcome
  • Proven track record executing corporate communications, brand and employee engagement in complex, multi-site, national business with a divisionalised structure, ideally within financial services
  • Superb communications skills – written (e.g. news writing, speeches and presentations, press releases) and verbal (e.g. from 1:1 to audience briefings) - effective across diverse audiences
  • Adaptable and proactive content creator and curator - can confidently write across a range of topics, seek new angles and opportunities for storytelling, while also delivering concise and clear instructional content as required
  • Excellent understanding of internal communications and employee engagement theory with the ability to creatively turn ideas into compelling and relevant deliverables which deliver business impact and drive desired employee behaviour

You will be a communications and engagement expert with superb communication skills across all mediums and able to work and influence stakeholders at all levels. We need a sociable, amiable individual who can build internal and external relationships quickly and not only work as part of a team but manage their own workload with changing priorities and deadlines.

You will need to have a hands-on can-do attitude, precise attention to detail, delivery driven focus whilst bringing high energy, integrity and resilience.
