Retail Banking Services (RBS) is the public face of CommBank, delivering a seamless banking experience for the future, to our 10 million+ personal and small business customers.

The Core Manufacturing Crew is dedicated to delivering customer obsessed home buying products and solutions enabling Australians to achieve their home ownership goals, whilst having the most sophisticated risk and reward settings and ensuring responsible risk management.

The Core Product Strategy and Governance squad is accountable for defining the end-to-end core product strategy to meet the changing needs of customers on their home buying journey, whilst also maintaining product integrity. This squad is one of the four squads within the Core Product Management Value Stream, which is accountable for designing and implementing features that do the basics so well they are almost unnoticed and exceeds customer expectations in defining moments.

Do work that matters

You will have a dual reporting line to report to the Product Owner, Core Product Strategy & Governance squad and Product & Solutions Management Chapter Lead to support with your performance and career development. As an Assistant Product Manager, you will play a supporting role in delivering to the product strategy and roadmap, a market leading customer value proposition, a safe and compliant product in line with the product design and distribution obligations.

You will assist the Product Manager in managing our home loan products in line with our policy, compliance and risk requirements. You will assist the Product Manager to deliver product design changes. You will assist the Product Manager in data analysis and governance activities to support our regulatory obligations and continuously iterate and enhance product features to create better outcomes and value for customer and stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities/focus areas will include:

  • Support product change initiatives to continuously improve the product offering and processes, enhancing customer outcomes and value, as well as reduce risk and improve productivity throughout the portfolio;
  • Supporting the management of operational risk and compliance outcomes, uplifting and implementing controls (and supporting processes) where required;
  • Assist the squad to manage the product backlog to deliver on the squad's vision, goals and roadmap
  • Managing product exception requests to deliver optimal customer and business outcomes, leveraging Subject Matter Expertise
  • Manage assigned Risk Issues/Incidents, conducting root cause analysis and ensuring that these are flagged for solution scoping within the relevant squads;
  • Leverage insights and data to deliver recommendations for product, policy and process enhancements;
  • Staying abreast of external market trends and evolving customer expectations;
  • Monitoring and acting on competitor, regulatory, customer and industry changes
  • Apply business acumen, leadership, change management and project management experience to determine the optimal approach in project execution.

We’re interested in hearing from people with and seeking to sharpen their:

  • Financial services experience in a high performing environment within Retail Banking, Product, Credit Risk, Finance, Operations
  • Home Buying Product experience in financial industry will be highly regarded
  • Analytical and data analysis skills will be highly regarded
  • Experience working in an agile environment and enjoy collaborating with others
  • Delivery and execution experience with ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
  • Strong planning and time management skills
  • Commercial acumen and professional judgement with the ability to make recommendations and draw out insights
