GFT is seeking an Architectural Designer to support a variety of projects in the West and Central Regions. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Berkeley, CA office.

Responsibilities

What you will be challenged to do:

As an Architectural Designer, you will perform work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard industry techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will be capable of managing and completing small project assignments and coordinating with design disciplines including in-house design staff or consultants.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepares project documents for assigned projects including initial sheet set-up on project drawings thru final plans. Responsible for project work including drawing schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
  • Responsible for project work during construction as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to submittal tasks, RFI’s, supplemental work including sketches, or submittal review process.
  • Generates cost estimates and calculations in support of architectural activities involving the design of architectural systems, components, or features.
  • Researches and gathers project design information for review with architect to fulfill project design intent. Information will be used for cost estimating and specifications.
  • Supports efforts for studies and reports and assists with preparation of technical reports.
  • Prepares 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in house presentations.
  • Formulates and gathers code information on projects for review with supervisor/architect.
  • Coordinates work with other team members through communication.
  • Capable of following direction, project/office standards, and implementing constructive criticism to improve work product and development with supervision.
  • Capable of supervising and managing a project team with members of varying levels of technical ability to successfully complete project.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) or Master of Architecture (M. Arch) degree required.
  • In the process of fulfilling internship requirements/path for licensure in the U.S.
  • Minimum three years of experience in an Architectural Office.
  • Capable of using and has proficient experience with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM)/Revit.
  • Working knowledge of Sketch-up, 3D software, Rendering software, Photoshop.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Compensation:

The Salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
