Job Description

The Technical Program Manager 2 (TPM 2) at Nordstrom is a dynamic role that requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. The TPM 2 is responsible for driving the execution of technology programs and projects within the Core Platform Services (CPS) Organization from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment with Nordstrom's strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished program/project management background, strong business acumen and a passion for creating reliable systems. The candidate should be a critical thinker, creative problem solver, self-directed and a committed team player. Candidate should have a drive for continuous process improvement and be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business/technical teams to solve problems and implement solutions.

A day in the life

  • In an agile environment, drive the entire program lifecycle: requirements definition through specification, design, quality assurance, implementation, integration, launch, and support.
  • Engage with engineering teams, product management and core leadership to synthesize requirements, recommend alternative approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.
  • Manage scope, resources, and schedules, balancing trade-offs between short-term iteration and longer-term planning.
  • Help mature internal processes, break down work into logical function groupings to enable the team to deliver early and often.
  • Maintain and evolve the program roadmap across CPS, ensuring understanding of project goals and vision.
  • Manage customer expectations while establishing and maintaining clear accountabilities; ensure clarity of delivery commitments, prioritize and re-prioritize to maximize value.
  • Effectively address bottlenecks and anticipate trade-offs to balance security and business needs against team or technology constraints.

You own this if you have…

  • 3+ years of industry experience as a program manager within a technology environment
  • Progressive track record demonstrating successful delivery of complex technology systems or services
  • Bachelor’s in computer science/ engineering or equivalent education and experience required
  • Familiarity with technology services, workflow modeling and application integration experience is a plus
  • Proficient in project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub and other relevant software or ability to pick up various software tools quickly
  • Effective written and oral communication with all levels of business and technical leadership
  • Thorough understanding of software engineering processes is critical in this role
  • High energy and a positive outlook
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to drive innovation independently

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.

Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$121,500.00 - $188,500.00 Annual

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
