ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The Environmental Program Coordinator position at the City of Tucson’s General Services department ensures regulatory compliance with regard to spill prevention, stormwater management, industrial wastewater, air quality, hazardous material management, and hazardous waste and used materials management. The position also oversees environmental due diligence during property acquisition, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remedial actions. In addition, the Environmental Program Coordinator manages environmental data and reports, monitors changes in federal, state and local environmental regulations, and manages the City’s Brownfields Program.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Deputy Director General Services. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Working conditions as follows:
Work schedule may require occasional evening and weekend work events.
Related field environmental sampling, monitoring, and inspection requirements.
Often works under the following conditions: Mostly office environment. Occasionally travels to off-site locations as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Work Experience: Three (3) years of directly related experience.
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Valid and Unrestricted Arizona Class D – Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 24-Hour HAZWOPER Certification and 8-Hour updates.
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) training, Stormwater management training.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Geosciences.
Related field environmental sampling, monitoring and inspection experience.
Experience in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Consulting or related field.
