Role and Scope of Position:
Supports management and employees concerning the implementation, interpretation and guidance of employee relations policies, practices and applicable laws. The position is involved with moderately complex issues pertaining to performance management, policy violations, discrimination or other employee relations matters, and assists in providing consultation that ensures consistent application of Company policies within legal and regulatory parameters. Assists in providing guidance toward the facilitation of problem resolution in order to ensure the appropriate handling of employee relations issues that mitigate risk to the Company. Contributes to the design and delivery of training and communications programs that build management capability to conduct employee relations activities in a proactive, fair and consistent manner.
Role and Scope of Position:
Under minimal supervision, responsible for administering the Company’s Labor Relations’ policies and practices. Acts as Company spokesperson at third step grievances, arbitrations and disciplinary hearings. Assists with negotiation of union-management contracts and other collective bargaining agreements. Maintains high-level partnerships with union officials and Eversource Operations management and responsible for implementing Labor Relations initiatives, programs and practices that achieve Company goals, promote positive labor/management relations and treat employees with dignity and respect.
Essential Functions:
- Consults with Operations management to maximize employee involvement and productivity, enhance operational efficiencies and improve overall employee relations through mutual respect.
- Provides consulting expertise in addressing labor relations issues within the organization.
- Participates in joint union-management contract negotiations. Administers all provisions of the agreements. Maintains an open and direct dialogue with union officials.
- Interprets union/management agreements for Operations managers and supervisors.
- Participates in and leads joint labor management committees. Maintains an open and direct dialogue with union officials.
- Represents the Company at disciplinary hearings, grievances, mediations and arbitrations. Leads arbitration preparations and serves as Company arbitrator during arbitration cases.
- Interacts with union representatives, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), arbitrators, mediators and attorneys.
- Researches labor relations issues including best practices, labor law and arbitration findings to make recommendations for corporate Human Resources policies.
- Supports and guides Operations management and Human Resources staff (Leave Administration; Staffing, etc.) in interpretation of the labor contracts, dispute resolution, development of labor proposals, strategies and negotiation of agreements with bargaining units.
- Works closely with Human Resources support team and managers in the formation of proposals to be submitted during contract negotiations or for mutual gains bargaining. Participates in the development of negotiation strategies.
- Leads projects impacting the Unionized Work Force.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with Union leadership and Eversource management.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act and other governmental laws and regulations affecting labor relations.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of other applicable employment laws, rules and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of HR policies and practices related to areas such as employee relations, benefit administration, compensation and performance management
Education:
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, related discipline. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experiences:
- Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in Human Resources & Labor Relations.
Licenses & Certifications:
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting at a desk and using a personal computer. Job requires driving and traveling to various Company work locations.
Mental Aspects:
- Work includes consulting, analyzing, planning, coordinating and implementing. This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.

$136,880.00-$152,090.00
