As a Satcom Sr Advanced Engineering Support Specialist here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Satcom products. You will be responsible for leading hardware qualification activities, developing and executing comprehensive test plans, analyzing test data, and providing recommendations for improvements. Your expertise in testing methodologies and your attention to detail will contribute to the success of our Satcom solutions. You will report directly to our Test Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Kanata location on a hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the development and deployment of satellite communication systems. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and implement test solutions that meet customer needs. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be essential in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to satellite communication systems.

The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hardware Qualification requirements analysis and test execution in accordance with industry standards (such as RTCA DO-160)
  • Project Management of scope, schedule, risks, opportunities, milestones, EV metrics and process compliance
  • Produce required documentation (plans, procedures, reports) & perform testing to certify that the Satcom products have met all its regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate internal teams and third-party organizations that are contracted to perform regulatory compliance functions for Satcom products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to satellite communication systems
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, typically less than 10% (and able to travel to the USA)

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in avionics or communication systems engineering; In lieu of engineering degree minimum 9 years engineering (technologist) experience will be considered

  • Experience with Aerospace/Avionics/Satcom/Telecom industry standards & regulations (such as RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-262, RTCA DO-210, Boeing D6, Airbus ABD, MIL-STD 461, MIL STD-810, ETSI, CSA, FCC, Industry Canada, GR-1089, CISPR, Inmarsat, Iridium)
  • 2+ years’ experience in a leadership capacity, an asset
  • Hands-on experience with RF Test Equipment - spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters and Noise figure analyzers, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer Networking, BER Testers, Routers, Switches
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
