QE Engineer Core Platforms

Job Description

Edge is a fast-growing business unit within SUSE that combines Business Critical Linux and Enterprise Container Management technologies and solutions to address business opportunities within edge compute scenarios.

As a Quality Engineer for SUSE Core Platforms, you will be part of a growing team ensuring the quality of SUSE's strategic investment and work within the Core Platforms QE Team which is responsible for the validation and delivery of the core infrastructure platform that underpins SUSE solutions, including Edge.

The candidate will implement and execute quality standards through systematic testing processes. You'll develop and maintain comprehensive test suites, perform detailed analysis, and ensure the platform's reliability across diverse edge computing scenarios.

Responsibilities:

• Create, document and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and quality metrics based on the requirements and specifications
• Design and execute test strategies across multiple platforms, with an emphasis on Kubernetes based platforms and environments
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for complex distributed systems, ensuring scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure early detection and resolution of issues
• Validate core platform behavior across different SUSE solutions
• Perform thorough analysis of test results and provide detailed quality reports
• Build and maintain test environments that simulate real-world deployment scenarios

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
• 3+ years of software quality engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with test automation and continuous integration practices
• Strong experience with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes
• Experience testing distributed systems and Kubernetes based platforms preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience in quality assurance, test methodologies and test frameworks (Ginkgo or similar)
• Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Prow, or similar)
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation practices (Ansible or similar)
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or similar)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with test environment setup and maintenance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
