Job Description

  • Identify potential industry partners and cultivate strategic relationships that align with SMU'sgoals and initiatives.
  • Develop a comprehensive partnership development strategy, outlining target sectors, industries,and potential collaboration opportunities.
  • Coordinate project teams, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and deliverables are established and met.
  • Lead negotiations with industry partners to establish terms, expectations, and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Finalize partnership agreements such as project application and NDA.
  • Act as the main point of contact for industry partners, maintaining open communication channels and addressing inquiries or concerns promptly.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, decision-makers, and project teams from partner organizations.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for industry partnerships that supports SMU's broader objectives and contributes to institutional growth.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, industry needs, and potential areas for collaboration.
  • Utilize market insights to tailor partnership proposals and initiatives to match current industry demands.
  • Monitor progress and outcomes, making data-driven adjustments as needed to achieve objectives.
  • Create comprehensive reports detailing partnership progress, outcomes, and key metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and forums to build a strong network and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Represent SMU and promote partnership opportunities to potential collaborators.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all partnership dealings, ensuring transparency, fairness, and integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential. A master's degree or higher inbusiness, management, education, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional level work experience.
  • Substantial experience in business development, corporate relations, or partnership management within diverse industries is required. Familiarity with the digital economy landscape is highly advantageous.
  • A demonstrated ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for developing and managing industry partnerships, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Proven expertise in cultivating and nurturing relationships with industry stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and identifying mutual benefits.
  • Strong negotiation skills to establish mutually beneficial agreements and manage expectations with industry partners, ensuring successful partnerships that yield positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional networking abilities to connect with potential partners, industry leaders, and professionals, expanding the organization's network and visibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present compelling proposals, negotiate terms, and create clear, effective reports.
  • A creative mindset to ideate innovative collaboration models that bring value to both the institution and industry partners, contributing to educational excellence.
  • Strong market intelligence and trend analysis skills to identify emerging opportunities, industry needs, and potential areas for collaboration.
