About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Impact & Insights you will actively contribute to a high-performing team and drive impact by working productively and efficiently whilst collaborating closely with other Focus & Enabler areas as part of our matrix structure and championing our One Minderoo Culture. Focusing where applicable on partners, stakeholders and beneficiaries to develop and execute a content strategy aligned with Minderoo’s strategic goals.

As Principal, Impact and Insights, your role is to provide strategy, measurement and learning advice and support across Minderoo. Supporting and facilitating impact and learning for Focus Areas and Impact Mission’s teams, the development of theories of change, measurement frameworks and monitoring activities, data collection and analysis.

Manage a strategic learning agenda for Minderoo to confidently define and answer key strategic questions. Stewarding impactful reporting and storytelling to stakeholders as well as developing and delivering training programs, workshops and resources to build the learning and insights capability of the organisation.

Your day to day will include:

  • Provide strategic support to the Director, Impact and Insights to evolve, refine and implement our approach to learning and adaptation, leveraging subject matter expertise to ensure it is both data-driven and systems-aware.
  • Contribute to the annual strategic work planning process, ensuring team-specific plans align with organisational strategies and priorities.
  • Promote evaluative thinking across the organisation, driving efforts to embed a culture of continuous learning and adaptation at all levels.
  • Design and implement research and evaluation to assess program effectiveness, refine theories of change, and inform the evolution of organisational strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other teams to draw insights from extensive data resources, applying appropriate methods to analyse and visualize findings that inform strategic decisions and improve program outcomes.
  • Enable feedback loops that foster learning with and from our grantees and philanthropic partners
  • Develop and deliver training programs, workshops and resources to enhance the capacity for effective strategy and learning practices.
  • Steward regular delivery of useful reporting and storytelling to for internal and external stakeholders, to build trust, credibility and effective decision making.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the sector by staying abreast of latest trends and methodologies and best practices in systems-led strategy and learning, engaging in sector networks and presenting at sector events.
  • Continuously explore innovative approaches to enhance system-led strategy and learning.
  • Work closely with peers across EP, FP&A, and others as required, to lead the development of regular portfolio reporting to ensure the Board, ELT and Focus Area/Impact Mission leadership are supported with information in a timely way to support evidence-based decision making.

Qualifications

About You

The successful candidate will have experience in developing and driving impact measurement, learning, and reporting processes in complex organisations. Understanding of a variety of qualitative and quantitative evaluation tools, methods, and frameworks to understand impact and generate insights. Experience in commissioning and managing research and evaluation. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyse and synthesise information into concise and insightful communications. Experience in commissioning and managing evaluation. Completion of a post graduate degree in a relevant field such as economics, social sciences, or evaluation or work experience that is equivalent.
