At our Siemens Foundational Technologies Development Center we are focused on a product development including software development, hardware development, mechanical design, and testing for the next generation concept of Industry 4.0.
We are offering cooperation on the development a modular industrial automation platform for field devices used in flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurement applications. This project emphasizes standardized approaches, efficient resource management under power and memory constraints, and compliance with rigorous functional safety and certification standards. You will work together with cross-functional experts in areas such as software architecture, continuous integration, and hardware design, as well as international colleagues.
Your task will be:
- Developing and maintaining firmware components, focusing on functional safety critical and robust embedded C++ development within resource-constrained environments.
- Contributing to the implementation and integration of communication protocols such as HART, WirelessHART, PROFIBUS PA, and Foundation Fieldbus, while supporting future extensions to protocols like EtherNet/IP and PROFINET.
- Collaborating closely with team members from various disciplines to ensure seamless integration of various subsystems and adherence to functional safety development processes.
- Participating in design reviews, code reviews, and testing activities to maintain high software quality and adherence to functional safety-critical standards.
- Supporting continuous integration efforts by integrating your code into automated build, test, and release pipelines.
What we will appreciate from you:
- Solid experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++ in resource-constrained and safety-critical environments.
- Familiarity with low-power design principles, standard communication protocols (HART, WirelessHART, PROFIBUS PA, Foundation Fieldbus, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET).
- Practical knowledge of debugging techniques (e.g., using logic analyzers), interfacing with hardware peripheries, and working in a legacy code base with a long history and multiple product variants.
- Experience with continuous integration practices and exposure to automated build configurations and testing methodologies.
- A systematic and rigorous approach to software design and implementation, with a commitment to quality and compliance with functional safety standards.
