CTG is seeking to fill a Licensing Engineer II - Engineering Projects opening for our client in Richland, WA.

Location: Richland, WA

Duration: 12 months

Duties:

  • Provide regulatory support for significant station initiatives and engineering project objectives.
  • Interface with Engineering Projects team members, plant organizations, external vendors, industry peers, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Identify applicable regulatory requirements and provide input and reviews to ensure project activities align with licensing requirements.
  • Assess project documents for potential licensing basis impacts and determine if changes are necessary.
  • Support development and review of licensing basis changes, including licensee-authorized and NRC-approved changes.
  • Support licensing actions through the NRC lifecycle: preparing responses to NRC requests, participating in audits, calls, and public meetings.
  • Assist project managers in implementing approved NRC licensing actions.
  • Participate in peer and industry groups to ensure project compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Provide project-level SME regulatory support, including training and guidance.
  • Support technical and regulatory needs of existing plant operations for both routine and emergent conditions.

Skills:

  • Proficient in applying advanced engineering theories and methods to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Capable of applying engineering principles across various specialties and training others in regulatory processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and questioning attitude.

Experience:

  • Three years of engineering experience in a technical environment, including two years in a DOE or NRC regulated nuclear environment (with bachelor’s degree);
  • OR
  • PE license with five years of engineering experience, including two years in a DOE or NRC regulated nuclear environment.
  • Experience processing or maintaining 10 CFR Part 50 or 52 licensing basis documents, particularly complex changes (e.g., power uprates, license renewals) preferred.
  • Familiarity with NRC licensing interactions, such as presubmittal meetings and audits, preferred.
  • Prior nuclear plant operations experience (e.g., operator license or certification) or specialized plant engineering qualification preferred.
  • Previous work experience in nuclear compliance or licensing highly desirable.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • PE license (preferred if degree criteria not met).

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80, 000/yr to $114, 000/yr. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
